Isn't the largest gaming demographic the 20-35 year old male?
And tons of teens watch movies, too. I think it's more of a risk thing. There have been movies and books (and TV shows) with gay characters, storylines, etc. that have had moderate success. But no game.
It's just a case of no one wanting to be the first to try. If it fails, there goes a huge chunk of money, and a studio may be doomed to close.
I was really looking forward to Flock, but after it came out I heard little to no good of it. So, it goes in the list of "maybe one day..." games.
I'm just curious, how many of the people who hate hate HATE GameStop still shop there, or stop by when they're at the mall to browse?
It's perfectly fine to hate the store and try to demand it change its ways, but unless people actually DO something about it, they won't. It's like that for any game ever based on wars. Even the WW2 and WW1 games there were innocent people dying during the battles. No one wants to be witness to that, though, even in a game.
I wouldn't really say games about the Iraq War are milking a cash cow. Now if this were about WW2...

I'm remaining hesitant until I see actual gameplay, but the ideas behind the game are making me want to play it more than any other recent MMO.

I just started playing it yesterday. Incredibly fun game. Melting faces left and right with my Musician's Spirit Guitar.
I think the big difference is that A) this game isn't going to be PVP based, but PVE. And B) Anything that can be bought can be earned in the game. So people who pay for things WILL be at an advantage, but they'll just have to play less to get the same equipment/skills/whatever. Guys with jobs and expendable income can play an hour a day and pay to make up the rest, kids who want to play and have free time can play more and earn the same things.
I'd settle for just making the power saw class a non-"premium" one. I don't want to get a guy to level 100 just so I can make a power saw! I want to START with a power saw!

Has anyone come out and said that, though? Every console MMO I've seen has a monthly fee, still. Only plus side is on the Ps3 there won't be the Live fee AND the game fee each month.
If it comes out, it'll definitely be one of the top online games.
I'm not sure if everyone would consider it free-to-play since it has a retail purchase, though. Sort of like calling Wizard 101 a free game when you can play for free... BUT can't use chat, can't progress out of the starting area, and can't level past double digits.
Am I the only person who feels extremely old knowing that EQ has been running for 10 years now?
