I'm a PC gamer, but I wanted to pick up a console to have access to games unavailable on the PC. I did the research and came up with just about the same list of reasons to choose the PS3 over the 360. I've had my PS3 slim now for almost 10 months and it makes a great complement to my PC.
Now I get to enjoy the best of both worlds: PC for my FPS and RTS games (I just believe they're better with keyboard/mouse) and my PS3 for its exclusives plus sports/racing/action...
This was a good read and a well thought out article. I like the list presented, but may of switched #1 and 2. Thumbs up never-the-less.
Oops, I made a mistake. Actually, EA's fiscal year ends in March, so their Q4 will be Jan. through March.

@dizzleK, you say "all press is good press". Say, how's that working out for BP with all those stories about the oil spill? Ya, its working out just great and everyone loves them (obvious sarcasm). Bad press is bad press. If you really think negative stories are going to sell Kinect, good luck to you.
You don't even need a top tier system to enjoy PC gaming. My rig cost $500 to build two years ago and can run most games on high settings or graphically intense ones on medium. It has 6400+ (3.2ghz dual core), 9800 GTX+ (512mb), and 4gbs RAM. Not a powerhouse, but even on medium settings, the graphics are usually far better than what you get on the consoles.
These days, I think game publishers are leading more on consoles (due to piracy on PC only titles) and porting the ...
"The future of computing is a 3D interface and Kinect is a device that allows you to manipulate 3d objects in real time with your hands, voice and facial recognition". Funny how 150-200ms lag becomes real time and since when can you manipulate 3d objects with it. Also, if the Kinect can't detect individual fingers, how is it going to have facial recognition with any accuracy.
"Navigating the net with just your hand". Oh, this Minority Report promise. S...
The employee didn't violate any rules. The guy brought in a new game that was opened. Gamestop policy has always been that you can return an unopened game for a refund or, if opened, you can get store credit or another copy. If it was truly defective, getting a new copy corrects that. If it isn't defective and you're just saying it is, then getting store credit corrects that. When you open the game, it is now used and they have to sell it as such. If the policy wasn't in place...
@gta_manic, I had to laugh at that quote of Gates about "the mouse and keyboard holding the PC back". What a joke! Mouse and keyboard is what makes FPS, RTS, and RPG's better on a PC. What about that recent article that said an experiment with PC and 360 gamers ended up with the 360 getting creamed.

The article is whacked. "But the Xbox is different. Critics and fans love it". Huh? If you're a critic, how can you love it?! Respect, maybe...but love?
"It’s had landmark games like Halo, BioShock, and Final Fantasy XIII". Ya, and the PC and PS3 haven't had landmark games? Besides, Bioshock and FF13 are also available on the PC and PS3.
Ya, I know it would SWBF3. The article was about "video games that desperately need sequels (but haven't gotten them yet)". So, the game that needs a sequel is SWBF2 which is what I posted.
Of all the games on the list, SW Battlefront II would be at the top of my list for a sequel. The concept is great: Battlefield gameplay in the StarWars universe. Imagine it now with destructible environments like DICE's Destruction 2.0 in BFBC2. And a StarWars version of Rush mode! That would be awesome!
Blitzkrieg mod for COH has been consistently good. Other good mods to try: Battle of the Bulge, Normandy44, and Eastern Front. COH is an awesome game! And love the mods!
Because all we see are problems and limitations with the Kinect. Even these so called "good things" in the article are suspect. That supposed "Minority Report" interface will get old very fast. The continued flicking of your arms will get tiring, not to mention holding it in place for 5 secs to confirm a selection (when a button will do it instantly). Two of the most promising games the writer listed are a fitness and dance game....need I say more. And, the StarWars game w...
"It seems the gamer world is abuzz about the new Xbox Kinect". Ya, and most of it has been extremely negative. All you hear about it is all its limitations.
"This new device which attaches to your existing Xbox 360 will offer a new way to game that has never been done before." Ya, if pretend like the EyeToy, PS Eye, or Wii never existed. This article is a joke!
@d10sfan, I agree with you about World in Conflict. Just because it didn't make it to the consoles as planned doesn't make it a "game to avoid at all cost". WiC was an awesome game that I really enjoyed playing. The game got average ratings in the low 90's, so they must have gotten something right.
@Soda Popinsky, Actually, I've spent quite a bit of time gaming on a PC and it is a much better, more mature experience. Just join a gaming community or clan that plays the games you like, then get on TeamSpeak, Ventrillo, or whatever communication program they use. You will find that the servers will be adminned and people kicked or banned for violating their code of conduct.
My gaming community is for all ages so no vulgar, racist or homophobic comments are allowed. Fro...
@hassi94, you're right. What's the point of releasing a demo 6 months after the release? Kind of hard to stay "on the fence" that long, you know?
