Yet another article showing the Kinect's problems and limitations. There is only three months to release and its hard to see how its going to be ready. Seems like MS is really rushing the technology, so they can have it out for Christmas. This could really backfire if there is a huge amount of returns due it not working correctly.
I love this quote from the article: "Oh, and if you were wondering, here’s the current list of launch titles for the Kinect. Try not to let this list make your skin crawl with disgust." Hard not to be disgusted with it since its just exercise, dance, and Wii copycat games.
Don't know how this article got approved; this article is obviously old. First, the writer mentions 60gb HDD which hasn't been sold in quite awhile (the 120gb slim came out Augu./Sept. last year). He also mentions HD-DVD like it was still revelant. Now, I own a PS3, so I'm not bashing it. Its still a great value Blu Ray player, especially when you add in the ability to play great games. However, these days, you can pick up lower price Blu Ray players, but they don't have as ma...
I'd have to say it was a pretty fair comparison article. I'm mostly a PC gamer, so I have "no dog in this fight". However, of the three motion control set-ups, I'm most intrigued with the Sony Move. I mostly stay with the PC for my FPS/RTS games because I believe the mouse/keyboard to be the best control scheme for those games. But, the Move may make both of those genres control well for a console. I'm waiting to see how well it works out for an RTS like Ruse and sho...
@webeblazing, I think the site you're thinking of is called "Can You Run It?". Its a great app that quickly lets you know if your PC can play a certain game. Also, it shows the minimum and recommended system requirements for each game which makes it easier to make upgrading decisions.
@Charmers, I'm with you on this. I have a PC and PS3 hooked to the same 40" HDTV, so its real easy to switch between the two. RTS/FPS games are much better on the PC with a keyboard/mouse, but if the article writer wanted to torture himself, he could just map the buttons to a controller. Also, about his point #2, there is a simple website to use to find out if a game will play on your PC. Remarkably easy to find on the web since its called "Can you run it?".
Ya, that old tired saying about all press being good press. So, how's the press going for BP and the oil spill in the gulf? Yep, the publicity has been great for them (obvious sarcasm). Kinect could be the same kind of "train wreck".
@Raoh, I'm with 100% on the PC/PS3 combo. I'm mostly a PC gamer, but wanted a console for games not on the PC. The PS3 was the perfect choice since its exclusive lineup is just better and across more genres. Most of the 360 exclusives are also on PC and the games that are truly exclusive, like Halo, I'm just not interested in since I believe FPS's are so much better on a PC with keyboard/mouse.
Bubble and agree for you.

I'm really interested in seeing how Ruse works out with Move controls. I'm PC/PS3 gamer that does my RTS games on the PC since keyboard/mouse is better, in my opinion. However, Move could make the RTS genre more appealing on a console, if they can get the control setup right. Other than that omission, I like the rest of the list.
I read the article and it seems to make a pretty lame case for Kinect. In fact, most of the article points out all of its faults, limitations and problems. It also states that the Move is superior: "What it boils down to is a choice. In our view, PlayStation Move is the most flexible, versatile motion controller for either HD console. It's patently superior to Wii and indeed the MotionPlus upgrade." Geeze, even articles that are supposed to support Kinect, end up praising the Mo...
I like a lot of these suggestions in the article. Since it looks like it'll also be out for consoles, I'd could see map sizes something like this: the regular 64/32/16 player maps for the PC and the same maps for the consoles, but maybe have them limited to 32/16 size maps.
I'd also like to see bigger squads than BFBC2, more like BF2. Also add AA Stingers as an optional loadout for one of the kits, so infantry has defenses against air power. Oh, and, since it'...
Sorry, but Vista was a joke and a complete processes hog. There are 50+ processes going on before you even get to installing programs. Oh, and installing and using programs was such a joy with all those annoying permissions that have to be given.
I would also add Battlefield 3 now that it has been announced and looks like its coming next year. I was also surprised to see that it'll be on the consoles, so it looks like BF3 will be the shooter to beat till next generation. I don't think either console exclusive (Halo Reach or KZ3) will beat it.
@Girlgamer116, you nailed it. 5 out of 8 of his choices are Nintendo game systems. Ya, I'd say there is some bias.
Sorry, but this list is whacked. Gamecube as number 1?! PlayStation 2 not even on the list?! This list is seriously flawed!
This article is right on. It does seem like the Kinect is being marketed to the casual gamer, with nothing too compelling for the hardcore. Yet, its priced like a product that normally only hardcore buyers would be willing spend. It really seems like a schizophrenic product.
BF2 has yet to be beat: none of those stinking killstreaks and perks; just pure gaming fun. Though, BFBC2 is a blast.
I'm with VersusEM and FlintGREY on this one. Halo and COD pale in comparison to the Battlefield series. Halo is a cartoony shooter like Unreal or Quake and COD has gone downhill with unbalanced perks and overpowered killstreaks. BF games like BF2 and BFBC2 make you work as a team and are so much more tactical.
@Focker420, you are correct and don't understand why you got a disagree. Just look at the date, folks: March 10, 2010. This article really shouldn't be approved.
