If backwards compatibility is implemented by adding the CPU/GPU of the previous gen in the machine (as was done at launch of the PS3, I understand), then there is not much that can be done to upgrade the graphics of the games other than anti-aliasing / texture smoothing. Being entirely software driven, emulators have more options in what they can do.
One I was expecting to see was the "Missile Command" level in Dead Space. Here you got through 3/4 of the game with a consistent set of game mechanics and difficulty level, and then they throw in a completely different type of gameplay that had a much higher level of difficulty. After many attempts, I gave up on the game. It was not until 1-2 years later that I loaded it back up, got some help from the interwebs, and then played through another 20 attempts before finally beating the...
He went on and on about how bad the audio was, but the first thing I thought when he stated the symptoms was that he was trying to play some sort of surround sound format through stereo speakers or headphones.
I was setting up my second Xbox for my son and found that I had to export the licenses for all my Arcade games to his machine so that he could play the arcade content I'd purchased. As long as he only ever uses that machine, this should be fine, as the licenses are also tied to my account, so I can play the games while "roaming" on my own machine. But if he ever wants to play the games on my box (with the better TV), or I set up a third machine for my daughter, they won't be...
This is true...
Seeing as they are retiring exactly 5 years after EA acquired Bioware, I suspect their timing is more due to a lockout in the buyout agreement...
IIRC, they changed to cell shading shortly after Rage was announced. It would be interesting if the desire to not compete against Rage was partly the reason Borderlands stood out and became so popular - whereas Rage's great graphics wasn't enough to save it.

I loved Lost Odyssey! I watched work-mates playing the first few hours of Final Fantasy 13 (while I was working, so I did not have to suffer through the whole thing), which was enough for me to decide not to buy it, myself.
Did everybody miss that the rendering was being done on the cloud? So, not only does it look grainy, but it also takes some unspecified number of computers to even achieve that! What game developer is going to devote enough computers on the cloud to support that? This is a proof of concept, only.
I'm happy to see a site devoted to single-player gaming!
Well said!
Just kidding, of course.
You must suck at typing...
Send me a nude pic!
Are you a girl?
That could actually stand for "Mad Iron-Man Gamer"...
Surely there was a First Guardian?
When I was a kid, I was addicted to reading books. I'm happy my parents did not ban them due to the potential health problems of sitting so long, as the intelligence I developed from this addiction has led me to a pretty enjoyable and rewarding career.
If I needed a new PS3, I'd probably buy the 16 GB unit and put an SSD in it.
It may not beet The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, but it certainly carrots it!
