Imo, FF was getting monotone, the stories weren't that grand and amazing anymore and a slow turn-based battle system didn't help. Hence why I embrace the change. I'm not saying every turn based rpg is like that, but man add some challenge. If you can win 95% of the battles by simply pressing attack there's something wrong.

Though, I don't think this is the whole world map. It doesn't make sense for an open, fully explorable world to end by just being cut off. Until now the world map ended with oceans. This way when you leave on one side, you appear on the other, but here the cut off land masses aren't fitting together. So I think this isn't the final version.
Memorable cause you were exposed to them via movies and spin offs to the extend you can't forget them. And I know Zack was in the game, I didn't say he wasn't. I said his connection to Cloud and the reason for Cloud's behavior wasn't portrayed in a clear way, which is a huge miss in the story.

Only two guys, Noctis and the blond one have haircuts which are unusual...in the West. In Japan they are rather common. The other 3 guys look rather normal to me. They all serve Noctis as his bodyguards so it kinda makes sense they'd be dressed similarly.
