It's an okay game that is fun to play in short bursts. The biggest problem is that the game is randomly generated and with the exception of a few rules, this can result in many situations you just can't win. This also causes you to be unable to learn from your mistakes, since every situation is going to be a little different.
Anyway, it's a solid deal at 11 dollars and okay deal at $15. It also includes the DLC characters from the Xbox version, which is a nice bo...
Well it certainly won't result in lower sales, so kudos on applying common sense to a situation.
A common misconception is that a 10/10 is a perfect score, but it's actually a lot more like a 4.0 in college. For instance, my Japanese syllabus defines an A or 4.0 as a score above 92%. So there is no difference between getting every question right and averaging a 92%, since both grades give you the same "perfect score". This is pretty much the same thing with 10/10 reviews, since it simply means that there might be some minor flaws, but the whole package more than makes up fo...
I can tell you FOR A FACT that the site I use to write for was anti anything that could piss off a company. It got so bad that the EiC actually gave one of my reviews 3 extra points because I "angered" the company, where as the company just wanted to make sure I wasn't right about their glitch. Maybe it's not common practice, but a lot of sites are ran by greedy... who just want to make sure their free games keep a flowin.
A bit of this has to do with higher quality games being released and as you've said, more reviewers. So far I know I've seen BioShock Infinite, The Last of Us, Rayman Legends, Dragon's Crown, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, SMT IV, Soul Sacrifice, Metal Gear Rising, Super Luigi U and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure all get at least 1 perfect score. This isn't even counting GTA V, Killzone Mercs, Pokemon, Wind Waker, Link Between Worlds, Watch Dogs, Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, CoD Ghos...
Depends on a lot of things, but I do believe there are some perfect games out there.
In my own personal opinion, Spelunker HD is the only 10/10 game I've played on the PS3 and that is out of nearly 400 games on the PSN alone. The game was brutal, but fair if you understood the mechanics (think of Demon Souls). There was no story, so you weren't bogged down with pointless details as to why you had to search a cave for stuff. The game is roughly 20 times longer than the...
Most people don't actually read reviews, but simply look at the score. You can see that constantly in the comment section on N4G and peoples reactions to some negative reviews.
The real problem is how reviews are read like college grades. While 5 should be average on a 10 point scale, we instead see 7 as the average score. This in turn makes it a lot harder to score things well and I believe is why you see a lot of 9 review scores. That and people don't want to deal ...
It's not a beat em up. It's a fighter. =\
Is the Wonderful 101's failure really his / their fault?
I recall the games announcement being overshadowed by Bayonetta 2.
I don't recall the game having a lot of news and Kamiya even mentioned that he wasn't thrilled with the lack of marketing.
Nintendo only really put out two Nintendo Directs to sell the game, which are far from the best way to make something a huge success. Especially when the Wii U market is pretty small.
Nintendo o...
@ Thepees3
I feel bad for Platinum Games, since no publisher seems to give them a genuine chance. Sega did a terrible job marketing their games in the US and The Wonderful 101 was only really marketed in the Nintendo Directs. It would be one thing if they were huge commercial flops, but some things like Anarchy Reigns were delayed (and people were like "wait that was suppose to come out next week?"), was released (and people were like "wait, that game released?...
You do know that the Vita version has 30 less levels, right?
Someone clearly doesn't read or know of Famitsu...
Honestly, it's not. Infernal difficulty actually isn't that bad, since you start to get weapons that have tons of stats on them and that makes things a lot easier. Same goes for the ancient dragon, which I was able to down in under 4 minutes with a level 70 something knight. If you have good AI partners, damage up items and a good build... he is a joke. Level 99 is also really easy to get, but you need to spend a lot of time on a SINGLE adventure. Though if you play on infernal (score...

"translation we are getting our moneys worth."
If you're going to reply to me and say something stupid, then do NOT use the pronoun "we".
Thats cool that you think you're getting your moneys worth, but I expect the full game and I expect it for $40 dollars. Plenty of other games didn't cut content (in fact most added content) and we don't need people like you telling developers we expect le...
"My point was... Or is there a reason Xbox One pre orders are either 1/2 that of Xbox 360 or 1/3 of it."
Take your pick...
- No solid release date.
- Additional $100 dollar price tag.
- Performance Issues / Feels rushed (like how it's launching in less regions and launching incomplete for some)
- "Dated" concepts like double A batteries
- Lack of proper branding.
- Most of their "heavy hit...
If everyone thought your way, then we would still be playing games on our Genesis and NES... No matter how you look at it; we rarely have a clean jump. Maybe today the next gen is looking bleak, but a year from now you'll have almost nothing to buy and the next gen will be pretty awesome. That is just how it works, plus companies still need to make money.
"are demanding like Dragon's Crown"
Dragon's Crown can have a lot going on, but the "full" game is still roughly the same size as Rayman Origins.
"A shame they never mentioned this a long time ago,"
psDrake mentioned that one of the trailers a couple of months ago had it. The trailer does mention 90 levels, which is 30 less than the full game. No one probably noticed or really thought about it to notice....
In what reality does that make sense? If there are 30 levels not included, then they're missing. End of discussion.
Also people need to learn that the $40 dollar price is not a valid reason. Plenty of games gave an equal or better experience to their console counter part and it wasn't a problem for them. Plus the console versions would probably sell better than the cheaper portable version, simply because they rather play it on the big screen / the Vita demographic i...
Apparently the Wii U version is only 7 gb and Vita carts go up to 4 gb I guess. While that 3 gb sounds huge (I mean it is almost twice the size!), you get a lot back when you downgrade the visuals / sound alone. Might not be enough to clear the gap, but they could have cut something less people cared about. Like the murphy stuff and wrote it off as them being nice to Wii U gamers. I mean that stuff is cool, but I rather have all the levels than the ability to control murphy with touch.
@ Shadow
It's cool that you hate the Wii U and all, but don't expect like there is some sort of grand logic to why it's selling the best. It's selling the best because Wii U gamers have had that demo for months, played the challenge app for months, was designed with the Wii U in mind, to prove Ubisoft should have released it way back when for them and platformers tend to do well on Nintendo consoles (go figure).
Also I have no clue why you...
