I think that kind of stuff would be fun as well. I like Achievements, but I think the Gamerscore is kinda lame - all a higher score really says is that you spend more time playing games. To me the Gamerscore feels like a manufactured reason to get people to buy more games, just to get the Gamerscore points - you've probably seen a list like "Games With the Easiest Achievements" or the like.
I like the Achievements because you can show your skills in a particular game ...
Well, this is a blog post referencing an rumor that was published in Variety so that's hardly confirmation. I think it's going to happen too, but my opinion matters, well, as much as this blog's I guess seeing as how neither of us has any inside information.
They tried it already. It was called the 3DO. Remember that incredibly expensive and incredibly crappy system? Technology thrives on competition. Do you think Sony of Microsoft would be packing as much hardware as they are into their consoles if the other one didn't exist? No freaking way.
Sure this would be good for developers - only one platform! Woohoo! More time for ping pong! But it would be horrible for gamers.
Sometimes I think Jaffe really just likes to ...
Word. And even if they did "copy" who cares? Shouldn't they give gamers what they want? Of course! Should consoles only do things that no one else has done? Of course not!
Of course Universal isn't going to say they are dropping it when they have a ton of stock on store shelves and in the channel and ad buys all over the place - they don't want to take a bath on it.
If they are going to drop it, and I think if we're honest with ourselves it looks like they will sooner or later, then they will try to clear as much stock as possible beforehand to minimize their losses while quietly making the changes internally.
Remember that their j...
I think most of the vitriol comes from early adopters of HD-DVD who feel like if they make enough noise on the internets then their investment might not go to waste. Laying aside the technology for a minute - I've never really thought that HD-DVD had much chance with Sony and Disney in the BDA. Back to the technology - I know that feature-wise the formats aren't identical at this point, but I have also always liked that BR is significantly larger, and I don't think I'm alone. Stakeholders wan...
Oh snap! You're right! I scanned through for links but I missed it. I knew I heard about it the other day on WebbAlert, I was surprised that it hadn't made it on here already.
I don't really care about the points anyway, just giving you a hard time man :). That and I wanted people to know that the payoff thing is BS.

way to poach a story!
EDIT: I'm retarded.

While I agree that this story isn't all that interesting this is News For Gamers not News about Gaming and Nothing Else. It's meant to be news that is of interest to gamers and since this article already has 140 degrees it must be of interest to some of the gamers on here.
If it turns out that the delay WAS because they are dropping HD-DVD support then I think without question the interest will be justified.
I think that saying that Blu Ray winning the format war won't help the PS3 would be pure fanboyism.
I'm not sure about that. Either way (disc or download) the original game code is being used via emulation - at least right now. So the same bugs exist in Psychonauts whether you play off the disc or the Xbox Originals download.
If they start releasing Xbox Originals that you CAN'T play off the disc then they must be intentionally blocking them from working off the disc or modifying the original source so that it can run on the 360 without emulation. Doing the latter would requi...
It's hard to imagine why even the studios who haven't dropped HD-DVD would want to spend money on producing discs and shipping them and marketing them when the outlook is as bleak as it has become.
Q2 eh? My mullet should be coming in nicely by then.
Can't Wait!
This guy is right on. I let my Gold account expire and won't pay for it ever again - it just wasn't worth paying even a few bucks a month for especially when I can play plenty of games online for free on other platforms.
I had the problem of playing a lot of Uncharted where R2 is reload then jumping into COD4 and repeatedly fragging myself behind cover when I intended to reload.
Agreed. 360 D-pad = unusable. Quick select in Oblivion taught me this in a hurry.
Since no one has mentioned the Wii controller I'll just go ahead and say that I hate it.
I think the loudest console ever award belonged to the Dreamcast until the 360 came out. At my apartment we refer to it as "the vacuum cleaner".
I think they've already shown things that make it seem like they are going to do it - like Phil Harrison wearing a Ratchet Suit and a Motorstorm suit at the E3 keynote.
