As a Jak and Daxter fan, I'm deeply disappointed that this isn't a next-gen Jak game for the PS3, but oh well, I'll just have to buy the PS2 version and I hope that High Impact Games doesn't screw it up.
And for those that haven't played a Jak and Daxter game before (PS2 versions), it's not a casual franchise... Jak 1 was a little more friendly, but both Jak 2 and 3 were a little more hardcore and were rated "T"... I just hope The Lost Frontier maintains the same atmosp...
I don't think that the next generation of consoles will even come until 2012 at the earliest, and even later for the PS3, and there's no reason to start worrying about anything this early.
I mean, both the PS3 and Wii are just barely 2 and a half years old, and the PS3 came out in March 2007 in Europe, so it's just barely had it's 2nd birthday in Europe... things are still in the early stages when it comes to the PS3 and Wii... but with the 360, that's another story because it's ent...
NOOO!!!! I want a next-gen Jak and Daxter game. I've been a huge follower of the Jak and Daxter series since it first came out and still own all of them for the PS2... I've been wanting a PS3 version for ages.
The screenshots look "o.k.", but to me Jak 2 and Jak 3 looked a lot better... this Jak game looks like it's less gritty and mature than Jak 2 and 3 as well.
After Naughty Dog finishes up Uncharted 2, I seriously hope they go back and make at LEAST 1 m...
"there are other formats coming out later . wonder if there will be a battle or bd wins?"
Personally I think that Blu-ray will be the last Disc Format because of the steady Rise of Digital Distribution and because there really isn't a need for another format because it's not like the picture quality is going to get much better because Blu-ray already provides crisp and clear picture quality.
Digital Distribution still has a long way to go before it gets any...
"I guess they finally realized what a huge mistake they were making by developing exclusively on 360."
Yeah, I agree with that, but I have another thought about that too.
Since Sony recently lowered the cost of PS3 dev. kits and Sony are providing more tools to devs., that could be a reason why this game will be their first PS3 game.
They probably only released 360 JRPG's up until this point this generation because before Sony started providing...
All I've got to say is good luck to Tri-Ace on developing their first PS3 game, because I think they are going to need it.
If their new RPG is anything close to Star Ocean: The Last Hope in terms of quality, then maybe it'll be pretty good.... hopefully it won't be anything equivalent of Infinite Undiscovery in terms of JRPG quality.
I use Wikipedia all the time almost every single day for looking up stuff.... I think I remember using Encarta a couple of times back when I was in Middle School, but I'm in College now and haven't used it since my Middle School days.
I guess I'm not too surprised to hear this though, because Wikipedia's popularity is pretty high and a ton of people use it.
Those were some pretty weak reasons to me.
"Still Expensive"
I can't believe the person that wrote this thinks $299 for a PS3 would still be expensive...If the PS3 was dropped to $299, it wouldn't be Expensive... I mean, it would be JUST $50 bucks more than the Wii.
"Recession"
Yes, the economic outlook isn't that bright, but even in February NPD, the PS3 sold 270K+ when it's cheapest price was still $399... if the PS3 sold that much i...
"New Netflix Pricing gives PS3 Owners the Blues"
Why does everything Blu-ray related have to directly impact PS3 owners? I mean, there ARE people that DON'T have PS3's and have Standalone Blu-ray players.
It's not like Netflix is increasing the pricing for PS3 game rentals because something like that would probably give "PS3 owners the Blues" but not this.
I don't use Netflix anyways, I buy Blu-ray DVD's.
Sony could have dropped the PS2's price to $99 dollars earlier if they wanted, but there was no reason to because plenty of people were still buying PS2's at a record rate at $129, $149 and $179.
The PS2 had a higher demand during the same portions of the PS1's lifecycle because the PS2 sold 100 million in a little over 5 years, but it took the PS1 around 9-10 years to hit 100 million... and if a product has high demand (like the Wii) when it's selling at a higher price, you don'...
I'm still not sure if I'm going to get Prototype.
Even though it looks like it could be loads of fun, my only dilemma with Prototype is that all I've seen so far is a bunch of Mindless Destruction and it doesn't seem to be as centered like InFamous because in InFamous, there's a reason to what you are doing and you can actually choose which path you want to take... but in Prototype it just seems like all you are doing is Killing Everything and everyone... don't get me wrong, runn...
If Final Fantasy XIII is going to be pushing the PS3 this much, all I've got to say is, good luck to SquareEnix on porting the 360 version and maintaing the same quality across multiple DVD's.
I never say this, but I really can't wait to see the PS3 vs 360 comparisons on this game.
Even though FFXIII is multiplatform, the fact that the Xbox 360 development hasn't even begun yet, the game itself has been developed like a PS3 Exclusive such as MGS4 or Uncharted 2 beca...
Wow... I had no idea the average Wii game has to sell a Million copies just to turn a profit... for all of the shovelware titles, I don't think it would have to sell a Million to turn a profit, but a game like MadWorld, Zelda or The Conduit would have to sell a million to turn profit because they are higher budget games (and of course are higher quality games).
"Reggie also went on record saying Nintendo decided to leave high-quality graphics and high definition support out ...
I'd definantly buy the Uncharted 2 Collectors Edition. When it comes to games I'm looking forward to immensely, I always choose the Collectors Edition over the Standard Edition.
The Standard Artbook, Behind the Scenes Footage and maybe one other thing would be nice.... but I'd love a Collectors Edition where it has the signatures of all the people that worked on the game Laser Engraved onto a Steelbook Case... something that's really unique and really EXTRA limited.
Naughty Dog is a smaller studio (less than 100 employees)compared to Insomniac and that's why Insomniac can churn out AAA quality games each year.... my guess is that Naughty Dog wants to stay pretty small because they always have been.
For a game of the caliber of Uncharted, it pretty much takes the entire Naughty Dog staff to get it done. Insomniac can split half of their staff to work on Resistance and the other half will do Rachet because they have much more employees, but Na...
Sony isn't hyping anything at all, the hype is coming from the numerous game websites that have posted on N4G and own their own websites, their own speculation about what the announcement will be... that's where the hype is coming from.
When it comes to hype regarding PS3 games or literally ANYTHING PS3 related, it's always Gaming Websites that start the hype, NOT Sony themselves.
It's not like Sony isn't teasing the announcment by saying " We've got some earth ...
If Sony was going to announce a PS3 price cut, why would they do it a few days after GDC when they could have announced it at GDC?
I think the best chances for a PS3 price cut announcement will be at Sony Gamers Day or at E3, but not before then.
Even though PS3 sales have been down slightly year-over-year, despite being $399 minimum for over a year, it still sold 270K+ in February's NPD, and even though there was no Year-over-Year growth I think Sony was probably co...
I think a lot of gamers respect Sony because Sony has been in the gaming industry for over 10 years, many people have grown up on a Playstation console of some sort, and Sony supports their consoles for a LONG time.
Even though the Xbox 360 has become so popular (mainly in the U.S. and U.K.), I don't think it necessarily means that more gamers respect Microsoft... if anything, a lot of gamers probably have lost some respect for Microsoft because of all the complications of the 36...
"They need to lower the price more. A price of $99 is still not low enough for me to purchase one. I want one! Lots of PS2 games I would like to play."
How in the world do you not have a PS2? It's rare that I've heard someone say they didn't have a PS2... seriously, what games where you playing last generation if you didn't have a PS2?... I mean, the last gen. the Xbox and Gamecube only had a pretty limited selection of games.
Anyways, if you want the PS2 t...
I have 6 of the games listed, but that's about it. Overall it was a pretty good list.
Out of all the games listed, MGS4, GT3, Shadow of the Colossus are definantly my personal favorites and are among my 10 Top favorite games ever.
Vice City was a good GTA game, but personally I would have replaced it with San Andreas on the list.... I loved the whole "80's vibe" in Vice City, but San Andreas is still my favorite GTA game because there was just SOOO much stu...
