But why are they taking ownership away from honest paying consumers? Why haven't they offered a service to backup your games? To me, I agree that the developer should get paid for used games. But they don't because legally places like GameStop can rob them and not pay. However the countermeasures seem to be doing two things, not one. First they are fighting piracy and second they are not offering ownership to honest paying consumers. It's like they are taking away from every...

There are other reasons why the game industry isn't sustainable now. For one, these games still cost the same as they did in the 80's. Consoles still cost about the same too. They aren't accounting for inflation which increases about 3.75% every year (consumer pricing index). That means games should at least cost 105.00 today and consoles should be about 500.00. Yet they haven't and 105 today is the same value as 50 twenty years ago and people bought them. So I can't...

There are many issues this generation is witnessing. It all centers around the online model and its' attempt to sink their hooks into everything you do. It's called online control and has been very prevelent in the PC gaming industry for over a decade.

In a nutshell these developers want to take ownership away from the consumer. It is very hard to do if they are selling you a physical copy of a video game. Why? Well first it's in your possession and second th...

This has got to be the biggest issue right now in the game industry. I'm surprised it was rated this low.

This piracy war will change everything and it will start with online control. Gamers will suffer the most and it starts with a 10.00 fee.

When was the last time America had the technological advantage over Japan? We are just getting HDTVs and they had them for 20 years now.

Let's take a look at what we know to be fact in this industry thus far.

Developers have been fighting used game retailers for years over piracy. The courts have found it to be legal for used game retailers to sell used games to consumers. Why? The court found that it is the game owner's choice where he buy's and sells his product. It is therefore not piracy to do so nor is it piracy for the used game retailer to sell that product back to another consumer. It...

It's the only game in the series that interests me. I like RTS games.

There doesn't seem to be a huge relationship between great games vs sales or game scores.

The mass market accounts for the majority of gamers. This crowd is casual and really doesn't go looking for the scores. Just what they see on TV and that's affordable.

Game reviewers go with the trend. They will appeal to their audience and rate games based on what they think their readers value. I've seen this generation rate single player games lowe...

I've seen hardware drivers, which is software, effect the performance of hardware...even preventing it from functioning in a software environment.

I tried this before after I read an article about it. It didn't work on my PS3. What I do know is two beeps tells the PS3 to redetect the TV in use and it's resolution capabilities.

The 7200RPM HDD worked well on my launch PS3 but overheated my PS3 slim. I did stand the launch PS3 vertical and the PS3 slim horizontal. It could be position or model that effects performance but I have yet to obtain a stand for the slim to come to this conclusion. Therefore I elevated the PS3 slim using two boards while leaving the underside clear. worked fine since.

This has happened back when Sony wanted to update to firmware 3.20 and remove the "other os" option. I refused the update, bought a second PS3, and did a direct link cable transfer. Everything transfered except the copyrighted games, game saves, and game data. While the raw data transferred, it was useless unless activated over the internet. Basically everything useful was not useable. That is just one issue going on right now.

There is no ownership to the level we think when it comes to digital gaming. They say there is no ownership in the terms and conditions of our purchase. They give you the option to "buy" a game which is downright misleading. These companies are not trying to gain your trust in the digital age. They are trying to mislead people into thinking that buying the digital version of a game is the same as buying the disc version..except better. Better because it's convienant. Bette...

Nothing online is yours forever. While he does clarify it against Playstation Plus just understand that the content you buy online is not yours forever. The terms and conditions specifically state you do not own the game. Just the license to use it.

The discontinuation of the original Xbox Live service is absolute proof that digital content is not a reliable form of ownership. Why? It needs the server to remember your purchases so it can activate your video game in case ...

I find that video games do in fact get tainted with respect to many of the content and features available today. Trophies and Achievements are but one feature that seems to distract some from playing video games for enjoying the game itself...for what it is.

Video games today seem to show less foundation of appreciation for the core game. Whatever happened to valuing a game because of its storyline, controls, and gameplay? Whatever happened to patience, strategy, and an ov...

The same happens to those who donate blood. In a way it's pretty low for them to do this. They take advantage of people with blood donations and then turn around and charge the patient for it which in turn gets paid by the insurance company.

You need to drop your router firewall. Inside your router there should be an option to allow one address to be set to DMZ (demilitarized zone). This will drop the firewall completely on whichever address you choose. So, if the PS3 has an address of xxx.xxx.x. 103 then you enter that address in the router and it will open all ports for that system.

Once you do that go to the network settings and make sure your you select "manual" so that the address you enter stay...

Whoever wins the mass market wins the console war. I've learned that the more you value video games then the more you expect to get from it.

The mass market represents the gold yet to be mined. The game industry wants to expand the existing yet small base of dedicated users.

In order to do that they must add everything outside of gaming and somehow make it relevent to gaming. For example, the Wii uses family and integrates it with video games. The...
