It's one of those games that I liked but didn't get much attention from the masses. It had an interesting story and it was fun to play. It is unfortunate that it was released when the PS3 was still in it's infancy. Sales weren't that high due to the install base and I think the developers took that as a fail on their part.

I believe that Heavenly Sword has enough foundation to make a great franchise. If the developers look a bit harder and see that most g...

The article doesn't seem to pinpoint the exact reasons why Ken Kutaragi was a genius. Many people in the American public were blinded by price and a perceived arrogance by Sony that made seeing the PS3 for what it truly was near impossible. Ken Kutaragi developed a high quality product that was meant to last in reliability and future technology. I'll explain why.

In a nutshell the Playstation 3 was well thought out. 10 years, or a decade worth of planning for it&#...

With the disc there is a chance to own it. With digital distribution it lasts only as long as the service.

I'd be careful buying all that digital content because there isn't a guarantee you can own it after the 360 and PS3 are long gone. Given the fact that the 360 and PS3 dropped their support for backward compatability, what makes you think they will support these games next gen?

I thought the consoles would be a great balance of console and PC gaming. I imagined they would take the best that PC gaming had to offer and correct the worst. I am beginning to think I'm wrong.

Consoles today need a better form of backup methods. I can't speak much of 360 (besides DRM issues) but the PS3 really makes backups impossible.

Using a direct link cable between two PS3s still doesn't make copyrighted content transfer much easier. The...

Digital Distribution has not convinced me yet. I see many problems with ownership being taken away from consumers. Digital Distribution will always hide behind a service provider. Therefore the digital format isn't really something you buy. What you are really buying is a companies' service. Through their service they offer you access to the content you buy.

The problem I see here is this. You buy the license to use the game. Therefore you have the right to a...

The lack of challenge takes away the important sense of reward...that of accomplishment. Demon Souls have reminded me of that.

Being a gamer for 30+ years I have experienced this change firsthand. I have seen reward systems implemented through the years starting with simple score systems. Then it expanded into unlocks, secrets, and new modes. I remember when unlocks of artwork, moves, etc. started becoming excessive, unlocking multiple things at one time...and taking away the special experience of opening up something new in a game. I liked just getting one unlock at a time so I could take the time to use and app...

I believe the real threat to Sony was solved when they discontinued the old PS3 models. The threat is minimal at best because the new models don't have this capability. So I don't see why Sony felt the need to update discontinued models too.

I think the real problem here is how useless a game console is without the online service. There really is no choice that allows the owner to seperate without rendering their console useless. Who wants that?

I'm well aware of the idea that the games you buy, whether online or on disc, is not owned. It is licensed for your use. However, the problem with the service is not the service itself. Updating is a great idea but how they implemented the technology is not. The...

What if Sony removed all their features including the ability to play movies, music, and pictures? What if they just had the ability to play games?

Since the group that wants Linux is so small, why didn't Sony just offer a choice? Would it be possible to allow such a small group to keep it and just warn them that their personal information would be at risk? They could have killed two birds with one stone because most PS3 owners would agree thus drastically reducing the threat. If the threat is currently at .006(or whatever the minute percentage is)it would be on such a small population of old PS3 models.

As for the upd...

I don't think Sony gave PS3 owners enough time to react to the incoming 3.21 update. I read the PS3 news everyday and the announcement came several days before April Fool's day, the same day the update was reported to take place. Now, for people like me, I had at least several days to back up my PS3. Other people who were unaware of what happened had likely been hit with the update unexpectedly.

While Sony said that the removal of Linux was obvious I doubt the majority even re...

For those interested there is a tool I read about that bypasses the firmware check by using your PC as a proxy. It's not something I need to use but it's an option for anyone looking for more options to their decision. It's called lg5tool and I believe you install it on your PC. Here's a good place to start. http://www.youtube.com/watc...

My PS3 froze while signed in. I rebooted and a message came up that my PS3 failed unexpectedly. I bypassed the message and tried to sign in. It demanded I update. I said no. Here's why.

I have a rare backwards compatable PS3. I invested a lot of time and money with Linux. I decided to keep the PS3 as a collector's item and add it to my 30+ collection of video games/consoles. If I'm going to go without Linux I may as well go out and buy a PS3 slim. In essence I can have th...

I'm going to disconnect from PSN instead and play the console offline. I'll buy another PS3 when I can afford it.

Wait a minute now. I purchased the Playstation 3 at full price with the advertised features on launch day. I paid 600.00 plus tax for the hardware.

I bought the Linux Operating System at full price along with the keyboard and mouse. I have all sorts of software installed plus music. Are you telling me that 5 days is enough time to warn people of an update like this? Do you think that consumers are just going to let you take hundreds of dollars in investments without some so...

2007- 7.7 million (3.3 million sold last two months)
2008- 9.3 million (2.9 million sold last two months)
2009- 12.2 million (5.0 million sold last two months)

I would have to say that 2009 was Sony's biggest year ever in sales. It was also Sony's biggest holiday since launch. Sony has been well aware of this shortage and in fact is allowing it to happen. Why? I'm going to tell you why.

1)Sony has been losing money on every PS3 sold since launch. Y...

The PS3 is 3 years old. Even the smallest of developers have experience with the system. If Valve decides to make games for the PS3 today I'd expect their games to be about 3 years behind the times. Why? Lack of experience.

Outside the obvious reason stated above Valve has already developed a negative reputation with Sony and PS3 consumers. They have publicly blamed the PS3 for any and all faults regarding their Orange Box release. While that may arguably be true it didn't ...
