Microsoft and Nintendo have dropped in sales. That's something you don't see everyday. The fact that the PS3 is almost outselling both of them combined is refreshing considering how much flak it has gotten over the years. But I fear both Nintendo and Microsoft will jump ship by the time the PS3 hits it's stride. Hopefully it can blossom and compete against next-gen consoles the same way the PS2 did.

At least you didn't disagree with the others. Soul Reaver has got to be one of the most complex, but intellectual, game for puzzles I've experienced. All of them made sense.

I'm stunned. I could have sworn video games helped me become smarter and develop skills in ways most never think about.

For starters video games have helped me solve problems. I'm not talking about personal issues, although it has been known to be a remedy of escape. I'm talking about increased ability to solve mathematical, electrical, and other technical problems. I largely credit this due to all the puzzle and strategy games I have played over the years. ...

I listen to the gamers. If I ever did choose a professional review I would pick a person and not a site. I would find out what his/her tastes and watch the reasoning of their reviews. If they seem to be similar to myself then that would be the reviewer to go to.

I saw the movie again the other day. It was much better than I remembered it. The CG looked advanced for it's time.

If they do consider a remake I hope they can reproduce those level of graphics. The main concern for me is the addition of voices. Final Fantasy VII didn't have them. The movie did an excellent job and I would hope that's how they remake the game.

SoldierOne. Good explanation provided.

Just yesterday I found out my PSN game doesn't "activate" beyond the trial version despite PSN recognizing it as purchased. It's probably a glitch but the game is somewhat old. The title is listed as "lemmings full game" but it doesn't seem to check for updates. I know trophies were added after the fact but all it does is briefly say "checking entitlement" and then is disappears leaving o...

It changed to two and they aren't really backups. It's a limit of two active consoles on PS3. If you change the harddrive, the PS3 formats and erases all data. If you back up your PS3 to a backup drive, it won't backup your games (or game saves). I know that sounds crazy but they all fall under copyrighted material, a feature the PS3 doesn't support. However, PS plus allows you to save copyrighted game saves to their cloud. I guess it's okay if you pay.

In the big picture the result is the same. Like you pointed out, it's just a difference of when and how. Here's the kicker...

Online controls the physical format too. It causes the disc to be released early and, even if it's complete, requires at least one update to keep the disc reliant on the service. These online disc updates keep the physical format obsolete and incomplete. So it's not really an issue of lazy developers relying on the update tools i...

They are already sabatoging the physical format. You watch, one day they will blame the physical disc as the problem (i.e. bugs) and praise online as the solution. They will state that discs need updates anyway so why not make them digital. When in reality online caused incomplete discs in the first place.

The only difference between OnLive and PSN/Xbox Live is one service admits up front you don't own your games. The other two hide it under the terms and conditions and let you store it on your harddrive. Think about it.

Can anyone verify this? It seems to be one of those survey/review panels Sony holds on their website.

I've always wondered why Square had trouble recreating the success of Final Fantasy VII. Though I think it is not as hard as one may think.

It was a very human experience that most people could relate to. They could relate to the characters. They could relate to the world around them. They could even relate to the stories the game had to offer. So going on this journey with these characters was like being there with the characters every step of the way.

I haven't been really excited for a game release lately. I almost started to think it was because of my long experience with video games. Now I'm beginning to think otherwise.

I'm really looking forward to XCOM and Aliens: Colonial Marines. Two day one buys for me.

Can't wait to play this.

That reminds me. DLC trophies shouldn't exist on my list if I didn't buy it. I think you have a point and the multiplayer trophies should have a separate list.

They can be a distraction at times. I wish there was an option to disable trophy popups during the first playthrough. Also, I wish there was an option to keep all trophies "hidden" on the list either always or during first playthrough.

It was the first online game I've ever played.

@Jazz4108. It all doesn't matter in the end. Xbox Live and it's "integrated and supported" concept is still a temporary service. Proven through the original Xbox's end for Xbox Live support. If I were to plug my original Xbox console in today I would not be able to get any required updates to play certain titles...nor be able to play any of the games online....nor be able to get the OS update for the console.

I must disagree with Sabian187 about the ability to regain your titles. In simplicity, everything that is connected to online is temporary and not in anyone's control.

No matter what they say if you do not have complete control over the products you buy then they are not yours. Period. If they say it's yours and store it on their servers...it's not yours. People keep forgetting that any reliance on anyone else to maintain your games results in just that....a...
