@Fishy Fingers,
You said, "I cant believe any amount of 'secret sauce' will counter a better GPU/CPU/RAM."
Different sides of the arguments suggest it won't (including those who seem more likely to be impartial):

Gotta love the discussions where all of a sudden having more CUs is being discussed as though it is an undesirable quality?! The world's gone mad. The PS5 does not need defending, but to be fair, more CUs will be part of GPU *progress* and developers *will* use them.
XSX has 12TF & PS5 has 10TF, XSX's 12 is 20% more TF than PS5's 10 (since 2 = 20% of PS5's 10).
So -- while PS5 *does* have 83% of the XSX's TF count, the XSX TF count is still 20% higher than PS5's... To say 17% greater than PS5 is incorrect. The 17% is erroneous because it compares the PS5 **to the XSX's own total TF and not the PS5's**. Specifically, the difference of 2 TF *is* 17% of the XSX's own 12TF. This is why we cannot say, "XSX has ...
For gamers yes... In today's world too many people by "junk" -- I teach multiple classes and for a lot of families, a cheap Chromebook is considered a home computer... It's sad in my opinion, but if we are talking about "the masses", it is sadly closer to the truth than it used to be.
Loved P5 but I think it's possible to spend more time in the velvet room than the length of some games ;-) -and I don't know that the velvet room would be a great stand-alone game for me... I would have been happy if less of the game length came from those elements and more from the main story.
It *could* be a very interesting thing if Digital Foundry or someone else can pin down how RDR2 Stadia settings & performance compare with the P.C. release (despite likely further patching).
Now with RTX on... ;-)
I hope $600 AND that, that price still represents Sony/MS selling at a huge loss ;-). I want them to be as powerful as they can out of the gate and am willing to pay more for a system that holds up well for years to come.
denawayne:
Unless you were suggesting that every manufacturer's console have essentially identical specifications, what you described sounds very much like what the P.C. market already offers. One of the benefits for consoles is that developers have only a few hardware variants. With this, they can focus on optimizing their code in order to (theoretically) take full advantage of that hardware. As it stands (and has in the past) in our current hardware environment, we ha...

And for the record:
Again, I do not even like these games. And, while I think it is absolutely stupid that Sony chose to blur out the very things that made the characters (clearly in my opinion) NOT little girls. I believe Sony has every right to do whatever the heck they want to. If they want to start putting Burkas on all female depictions, it is their bloody right to do so. I may think it is ridiculous and it is my right to tell them what I ...
Travestyj:
***"Look at the pictures in the article, they are meant to look like underage girls. A lot of these games actually involve girls that are in high school."
Once again, these bodies are absolutely not those of "little girls". They may act childlike, but those bodies are post-pubescent showing adult developmental characteristics. These "adult characteristics" are a critical part of what it seems you might be misunderstanding in...
I don't know what underage girls you look at who have bodies shaped like the ones in that game... The art style typically dictates big "dreamy" eyes and traditionally the hair style etc. is as shown. But those are not "little girl" bodies based on my idea of such. I'm fairly certain that no children were harmed in the making of that game. And for the record, I don't even like these kinds of games. I admit that it is becoming disheartening to see a world trying...
Apocalypse Shadow:
Amen!
derek said it right for me. I do want more software, but for me the change that VR brings well exceed most of the differences we hope for when generational leaps occur. I'll qualify this and say that I **do not** want to replace traditional gaming and I recognized that if not done right, motion sickness can be an intense side effect. But, for me *almost* any game can benefit when done well with VR... More specifically, who wouldn't want to feel like the world of Uncharted, Persona, Ha...
Ken & Roberta Williams (& Co.) = SUPERSTARS!
Don't forget Persona 5.
8K for television... The reality -just a fact if anyone wants to research averages- is that a VERY large percentage of people either have screens that are too small or are sitting too far away from their screens to fully resolve the detail of lowly 1080p let alone 4K. According to most of the "experts" the ideal distance for a 65" 4K television (to fully resolve the detail with perfect vision) is approx. 4'! Yes, 4' from a 65" screen -- which incidentally places th...
The answer to the question posed by the headline is: In order for the PS5 to run the Killzone 2 E3 2005 trailer in real time, the PS5 will require specs significantly less than the specs required to run the following in real time -rolls eyes-.

KionicWarlord's reply is funny:
He quotes DF. They truly did use the term "a gulf in results"... They also mention it as a best case scenario for MS -- AND PERHPAS MORE IMPORTANTLY they compare it to the so-called "gulf" between the PS4 & XBone results --- which if not displayed side by side, MOST of the general public would be extremely HARD PRESSED to tell a difference. For those who could readily recognize a difference, it would generally hard...
Almost said the same thing. But hey -- they should be able to do a Switch port pretty easy ;-).
