I love long games - but I dislike grinding simply because I have to in order to move the story along and have it play well. If a game is long because it is rich in story with minimal necessary grinding/repetition/fetch/farm ing etc. then I am thrilled. If it is long because of those elements, it just doesn't feel like an escape and actually begins to not be fun/feel like a waste of my time. It feels like a chore to me.
BUT:
Give me a vibrant and living world/characters/s...

This article title sounds like if Top Gear (with Clarkson, May, & Hammond) were about video games (Top Games?). I can hear Jeremy Clarkson doing the intro while quoting this headline exactly.

Genuinely excited about Steam Frame. If the price is right, it could be the beginning of hardware that realizes my VR/head mounted display hopes that were born back with the original Oculus development days. To have the Steam Frame just sort of come out of nowhere makes it that much more of a surge of excitement. I hope it is everything it sounds like it is, and the start of a new reality in the market.

Very true - and the fact that the game is hardly a graphical showpiece...

Honestly, I have always believed that THE best experiences for VR, the ones that were made FOR VR decades before it was available were classic graphic adventure games. They are the one thing that for most would be accessible (almost any age) and very unlikely to cause any motion sickness if staying true to the original content and style. In fact, and I recognize that this is just me personally - I have been an early VR adopter. But, I put it on pause for years because I just don't find mu...

Clearly, they want to increase prices. They need to convince people that it’s not so bad. As long as they can do that, they can do whatever they want. You gave an outstanding example of the direction things could go if creators were focused primarily on The community and quality. If that example or a few others like it didn’t exist, it might be hard to convey to many how it is even possible.

The article sounds almost like it is written by an investor that has just put all his eggs in the basket of a studio that wants to direct gaming in that way.

I'm running a 4090 in my P.C. and *I agree with you*.

Don't know the exact time, but considering they are MUCH better protected than DVDs or CDs and I have DVDs from the lat 90s as well as CDs from the mid 80s that, for all intents and purposes are as good as new, I wouldn't worry much...

Context... I'm running a 4090. But, it is strange for me to try to think of RTX 4060 as fitting a "low end" PC.

Different I know, but it reminds me of the days of being able to walk into Blockbuster or Hollywood Video and rent a console and games whenever I fancied some game time. That experience actually drove me to buy the original XBOX after playing the original Halo co-op campaign with friends. Good stuff.

First disclaimer. I run a 4090 in my P.C. My reply to the headline:
Yet it is not going to be playing many games any time soon that look remarkably better...
Higher frame rate? Absolutely. However it is a reality that the MASSIVELY higher powered P.C. hardware is ultimately utilized to play (pretty much) the same games as the consoles but with technically better ray tracing that many would be hard to see (and I DO LOVE path tracing - don't get me wrong, I would love ever...

Thought the same thing. Additionally, until DLSS 4, there were a number of articles that talked about (including quotes form developers) how PSSR (when done right) was close to DLSS - and there was a recent headline about PSSR being significantly improved already. So, the fact that they bothered to mention PSSR in the headline, said nothing about it in the article, and the other information mentioned, suggests interesting things.
That said DLSS 4 is seriously awesome.

@GotGame818:
Hahahaha. Dude! That's like reading a story about how the new ZR1 is going to be impressive and then pointing out that the Rimac Navera will be quicker. What?! Why? Do you feel better for it?
This is GOOD news for tech development. It doesn't take anything away from high end P.C. hardware. Not sure why the need to "put console enthusiasm in its place" so to speak came through like that.

Visually it may well be similar to DLSS, but they were quick to point out that they do not have any actual performance data at this point. Time will tell, but it is definitely promising and good to see them impressing.

Good. This bodes well for minimal open world "bloat", but enough to be a meaty living experience driven play.

I admit that looking at a female character as I play is much more satisfying to me than looking at a male character. And, I loved playing as Geralt, but Ciri is probably going to be excellent as well, while being nicer to look at.
