Yes lets just ignore the facts and boil these franchises down to just there names to make a redundant point smh..... Halo 5 is a FPS, Halo Wars 2 is a RTS. Gears UE was a remaster, Gears 4 is a sequel borderline reboot. Forza 6 is a racing sim, FH3 will be an open world racer. While we're at it lets forget about Quantum Break, Crackdown, Scalebound, among others. Whatever helps you think your in the right dude, just try to have some objectivity with your points.
I think the point the article tries to raise is weak but I actually do have a question of my own. If Drake isn't Nate's real name and he really adopted it himself, how could Sam's last name be Drake as well? Was he with Nathan with changing their name? Or is naughty dog just calling him that for marketing purposes? Cant wait to find out in March!
Nah MW2 might be the best of them all. It has the polish and addictiveness of Cod 4 with more content, better gun selections, and Spec ops mode. It's between COD4 and MW2 for the best COD ever without a doubt.
Sony should do far better next year, especially with Uncharted 4 releasing. But only 4 AAA games, supplemented by a bunch of games that were released or will be released on different platforms outside this year and a lot of arcade/indie games was pretty weak compared to the competition this year.
Joel? Lara Croft? Nathan Drake? I'd put them over a few of these guys.
Easily a GOTY Contender for me. The best adventure game since the 2013 TR reboot, and maybe the best since Uncharted 3 back in 2011.
Choke points are key to any great multiplayer map. What would Gridlock in Gears be without the sniper spot? Or Skidrow in Modern Warfare 2 without the central hallway? Battlefield maps always worked best when there were smart objective placements that focused the action. That's one of star wars Battlefronts biggest problems in the infantry gameplay. Lack of key map positioning and strategy.
Back to the focused team based gameplay that made the series great (especially BC2 and B2). Strong, fresh, weapons and maps that feel unique with strong choke points and w/ destructibility. Fix the glitchy movement of B4 and 3 and return to the class based leveling of BC2. Battlefield Bad Company 3 would be a great place to start.
How noble of you. Sorry to here you missed out on the Mass Effect Trilogy, Dead Space 1 & 2, and Battlefield BC2. Some of the best games of last gen.
Uncharted 4
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Gears of War 4
Quantum Break
Horizon
Honorable mention - Titanfall 2
Yes but the new Tomb Raider will be remembered as the year's best action game, if not one of the best games overall. The Order will find it's place in the same group as the Haze and Too Human's of the world before it. Sales don't mean anything to us gamers as long as it warrants a sequel.
Rise of the Tomb Raider. No game accomplished what it set out to deliver nearly as well this year. The best adventure game since Uncharted 3 at least.
Sales don't matter when it comes to subjective quality. Name one great PS4 exclusive other then Bloodborne? No remasters or 15$ games*. I know Xbox has had Forza 6, ROTR, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, and Titanfall. All top notch games in their genre. I own both consoles and think Sony's lineup so far this gen has been mediocre at best. Bloodborne is truly awesome and the best exclusive if this gen so far (maybe besides ROTR) but the PS4 literally has had nothing else. Of course that'...
Expect the best action adventure game of this console generation so far a year later on PS4. Seriously if you haven't had the chance to play it be excited its a phenomenal gameplay adventure experience and one of the best of this gen so far.
His Halo 5 review was hot trash. Spent more time complaining about the lack of split screen and superfluous micro transactions then the actual content of the game. He barley touched the surface of just how deep and great the multiplayer is. It's kind of a problem when you spend more time talking about the tacked on micro transactions in war zone then war zone itself. His Halo 5 and Arkham Knight reviews were pretty poor imo, he focuses to much on his pet peeves and lets them cloud the pos...
Yeah if you haven't noticed fans for any series bitch about everything.
And while Rocket League is fun as hell, Halo 5 should absolutely win best multiplayer and best shooter. The campaign may have been a slight disappointment from previous installments but (battlefront didn't have one and BO3's was ehh). The multiplayer in Halo 5 is one of the best of the last decade and easily the best of the year. Between the perfectly blanched arena, Awesome innovative Warzone and the addition of big team theres really no competition.
Fallout 4 was put in the nominees before release lets be honest. The game is good but did not meet the astronomical expectations its fan base hyped up. I'd honestly prefer ROTR be nominated with one less pt on metacritic and a quality central character and main plot. The gameplay is sharper and it's details just as defined. ROTR accomplishes and exceeds exactly what it sets out to do and thats the sign of a true GOTY in my book.
So by this logic no split screen in Halo 5 should not be a negative against the game.
What happened this year? Rise of the Tomb Raider is a game of the year contender. Halo 5 has the best console competitive multiplayer I've played since at least Battlefield Cad Company 2. Gears UE was a great remaster of one of gamings most influential entries. Forza 6 was one of the highest rated racing games in years. Maybe if you'd OWNED or actually PLAYED a friends xbox you might have tried it out.
