We know Uncharted 4 is gonna be great so hopefully the rest of their exclusives will live up to it this year. Sony's had a couple gems so far this gen like Bloodborne but any PS4 owner would be kidding themselves to say Sony has been "killing it" so far this gen on the exclusive front.
GTAV gets the nod from me as better then the Witcher 3 because of it's superior gameplay diversity and Online replay ability. The Witcher 3 doesnt get enough flack for its underwhelming combat and messy menus. IT could learn many things from Bloodborne's combat.
The story still sucks and the competitive multiplayer is an unbalanced mess. The main draw of the game is also just a grind fest.
Uncharted 4, Mass Effect: A, Gears of War 4, Quantum Break, Dark Souls 3, and Doom to name some of my most wanted.
Titanfall is a waaaaay better game then Battlefront and only sold less due to the Star Wars license.
Except Titanfall sold more then double the Order did, and holds a 87 on Metacritic (the same as Fallout 4) compared to the Order's 63. The games success is not closely related.
Let me guess. You don't own a Xbox lol?
Because those were good but not system selling experiences. Until Dawn was good. I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. Rocket League was really fun and surprisingly deep but not exactly a sensational experience. But would I tell someone go out and buy a PS4 for Until Dawn and Rocket League? No probably not. Bloodborne is the only exclusive game on PS4 worthy of such praise and only to a certain group of gamers too do to it's gameplay and design. Xbox had 2 of those games this year in ROTR and H...
So something being the best is based on a popularity contest now? I guess that disqualifies Bloodborne as a game of the year contender (my favorite game of the year). Guess COD wins for the 9th year in a row lol. s/
The PS4 imo had the best game of the year in Bloodborne, but little outside of that with Until Dawn and Rocket League being exceptions. I thought Xbox had a stronger overall showing with Halo 5, ROTR, and Ori also being among the top games of the year, and Forza 6 being a top notch racing game too. Next year should be awesome for both consoles.
@Solid Duck 100% spot on.
They have to up their first party content this year. Last gen Sony won the best first party games by far and away. Bloodbone was amazing this year but lets be real it's not for everyone and Until Dawn was good but had a lot of problems. Sony needs to give my PS4 something more then sales and 2 quality exclusives this coming year.
It's gonna be hard to find out without owning an xbox one
The health recovery system in Bloodborne IMO.
Pretty Damn good list. I find it hard to exclude MGSV though.
As long as the game sells well enough to warrant a sequel it shouldn't matter much to fans. Rise of the Tomb Raider is an award worthy game and one of the best of the year without a doubt.
Just stop it lol.
This writer lost me by generalizing and disrespecting video game storytelling. Sure as a whole video game storytelling is hit or miss but to dismiss it all as being a waste of time is crazy. The Last of Us has a better story and characters then 95% of the crap hollywood churns out. Mass effect has a better story then all but a few sic fi tales. Uncharted may be inspired bib Indiana Jones but if you ask me the stories and characters in those games are more interesting then the movies they came...
Batman Arkham Knight is a very great game with a lot of flaws. The combat, open world, and a lot of the story telling are fantastic but the overabundance of Bat-mobile tank sections and problems with the Arkham Knight's characterization held it just a step below Rocksteady's first two entries. Still at least a 9-9.25/10 game and an outside goty contender.
If we're saying games with big flaws can't be goty then sorry but The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and MGSV are ...
Modern Warfare 2 had a great dumb fun action movie story.
