Eh. I don't think Sony or MS have policies on not releasing downloads. In fact, they probably would include downloads, as they're interested in presenting the highest numbers possible.
VGchartz doesn't wait for Sony, Microsoft or even NPD to get their initial numbers. They are estimates based on extrapolating data from consumers and stores. Precisely since Sony and MS don't make download numbers readily available to VGChartz, like the stores VGchartz track d...
VGchartz tracks physical copies only. Not downloads. So that pretty much explains why Naughty Dog is giving us a higher number (downloads + physical copies), while VG is giving us a lower one (physical copies).
What annoys me is how easily this information is available, yet people keep dragging their VGchartz conspiracies up. Their results sure are imperfect, but that's statistics for you.
If you're gonna criticise VGchartz for getting PS4's numbers wrong, at least get VGchartz's numbers right.
PS4 is sitting at 10.2 million.
@vanity29
We didn't really see much in terms of Sony games. But, yes, at least it showed up there. I'm not sure how much of it we'll ever see in EU and North America, though, so I can't say that that makes up for skipping on E3 and Gamescom.
@dcj0524
A bunch of first party titles? Nope. But, yes, there are third party developers supporting it, as already established in the article.
That is remarkably true. Not all of them have taken the leap to next-gen well. Also, they're still pretty good at handhelds, so it makes sense for those devices to still perform.
I would love that. Right now they only have Gravity Rush 2 in development, while Freedom Wars is being localised. I applaud Sony for always making new franchises, but it's frankly strange that they've got nothing from one of their big franchises coming up.
Get High Impact games on the case.
Well, you're missing the point. My point was that this is Sony basically saying that even though they haven't given Vita any love, it remarkably is still doing ok, as opposed to Sony promising that they're gonna support it.
For example: In the quote you posted, notice how Sony aren't saying "We're gonna support it more" or something like that. They're just happy that it's not dead.
I'm not saying that they're lite...
I'll imagine people who want to play it on PC care, and particularly people who "can't wait to see GTAV mods on PC".
- I can't wait for this thing!
- That thing is delayed, sorry.
- Who cares? I can wait.
To be fair, Wii U is doing quite well in Japan when compared to the rest of the world, and PS4 hasn't released that much software for the Japanese market, but still saw a stronger opening than PS3. No doubt that there's been a decline since PS2 days, though.
360 also tried pretty hard to make it on the Japanese market. Games like Ninja Gaiden 2, Blue Dragon, Ace Combat 6, Lost Odyssey and a couple of Naruto games were exclusives, while Eternal Sonata was a timed exclu...
A bit tragicomic that PC players will have to wait longer twice.
Poor Sony. They've tried so hard to pull the plug on Vita, but it just won't go quietly.
I mean, you're not even going to make a new Loco Roco or God of War for this thing? CanLego Batman 3 really save the console? I feel like games like Danganronpa, and the thousands of PlayStation brands might to do that.
Metacritic doesn't need to go away. User reviews on Metacritic do. At the very least they should be quality tested (like they to some extent do here at N4G). If you're gonna have an opinion, take one hour to write a proper explanation of why you hold the opinion.
Don't just plot out
"Everyone else think this game is great, but I know for a fact that it sucks 0/10"
on your laptop and call it a review.
@rainslacker
They're actually not in a prime position to give both sides of the story, seeing how they're involved in the story themselves. They gave their side of the story, and even though it's a "side", it pretty much confirms without a doubt that their writer was not involved.
Kotaku do hold themselves to a higher standard when they reject to take part in this debate. In fact, they'd break every journalistic ethic ever, if they were to ta...
I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't use sprites. They'd have to move away from 2D animation altogether for that to make sense, and I'm having a hard time imagining that it will. You never know, I guess.
@GribbleGrunger
Agreed. And not judging. I think some of these games must have been shown off a bit early for Sony to be able to make 44 announcements and still hold another conference in two weeks.
I sure hope so. Hot Shots looked awesome on PS3. This is hardly a step up at all visually. It's even a step down in some respects.

EDIT:
@00
One would still ask "Where's the positive coverage"? It doesn't mather how deep it runs if there's no end product.
@GutZ31
No one is arguing that Zoe can't be connected to the writers. The Kotaku writer knew her for sure and they had a romantic relationship. It's just obvious that the writers didn't trade positive coverage for sex.
The Kotaku writer was pretty much cleared of everything. He never reviewed Zoe Quinn's game or wrote any article about her or her projects.
And #Gamergate is by definition a SJW campaign.
Start biting the hand that feeds you, gaming media industry. The less you follow the money, and the more you follow actual journalistic values, the better.
The thing people should know is that there are no good sources in the case about Zoe Quinn. Even i...
I would probably doubt that. One of the major things with FOX engine was flexible, easy multi platform development.
Also, FFXV is not exclusive. Yet, it stems from the FF Versus XIII which was.
That being said, just having P.T. be exclusive turned out to be kind of a big deal. It really stole the post-Gamescom conversation. I'd be surprised if Konami just neglects the Xbox audience, but we'll see.
If you look up VGChartz's methodology you'll see that they track retail. I gave you the link, and at what place is it more logical to provide that information than under "About us" or "methodology"?
I also gave you the explanation as to why they exist: To provide numbers quicker and to provide numbers that otherwise wouldn't be provided at all. NPD and Media Create provide the numbers for the most-selling North American and Japanese market, wit...
