I haven't really experienced any rubberbanding-like behaviour myself, other than what I could contribute to drafting.
It'd also be strange for the developers to lie so blatantly.

Are you sure there's no other explanation?
The developers were pretty specific about the game not being rubber banded. Apart from that, I agree a little bit on the details. Millions on individually sculpted trees shouldn't come before higher fps, if that ever was a really choice.
Agreed. I can't remember saying anything that disputes that. At the time, though, PS1 was synonymous with the PS brand. It was the only console, after all.
They were back in the PS1 era, before they went multiplatform.
True. They failed to secure what people at the time considered to be their mascots, then. I guess one could say the same for Lara Croft, who also became a symbol for PlayStation.
@mixelon
Agree with that. Games like Super Mario Galaxy for example will never be controversial and are almost always universally appealing. I think Destiny and Driveclub lost a lot of points because they rely heavily on multiplayer. Very few reviewers criticise the core mechanics in those games.
Nintendo has spent a lot of effort establishing their mascots. Sony went and sold their biggest and most successful mascots (Crash and Spyro) to Activision. Other than that, Sackboy does well. And Master Chef and Halo is sort of a mascot too.
Driveclub, Destiny and Alien: Isolation all average at above 70, so they're supposed to be pretty good according to reviewers.
Well, at the very least it's a review that's actually about the driving. Most of the negative ones so far have given the impression that they don't play racing games to actually race, but for everything else. Really disagree with how the driving feels, but everyone has an opinion, I guess.
Take GT for instance. In GT you have a garage, a personal economy and you can acquire licenses to drive in specific events. You can even wash and tune your car. That's really more of a career, isn't it?
Is that really the same format as Driveclub? I don't think so. Just because it essentially all comes down to unlocking events and cars, doesn't mean the system surrounding it isn't more reminiscent of an actual career. Driveclub has the same format as Super...
@-Alpha
Had a feeling someone would say that, and no. I would imagine a career mode would actually demand, you know, a career of some sorts. Like the ones a lot of racing games actually do have. Dirt, Gran Turismo, Forza being examples of that.
Of course, you could call collecting stars to unlock new events a career mode, but then you could just as easily call it a story mode.
Once upon a time, there was a guy who collected stars to compete in losely ...
It seems likely that they meant story mode as in career mode. Very few racing games have actual stories, after all.
Finally the embargo has lifted and I can talk about this game.
"Rub up against a guard rail ever so slightly? That’ll cost ya. Trade just a small swatch of paint with another car, even if it’s not your fault? That’ll cost ya, too."
No! What the smack! I thought Gamesradar put it pretty well. It costs you to hit walls in even the most arcadey of racers. You actually don't lose that much in Driveclub. Which games have you played?
But you can dim the LED lights on the controller now. So you won't give away your position.
I'd be a little surprised if we didn't see anything from WipEout. Then again, we only say WipEout HD (which recycled levels from PSP games) on PS3. It was, however, awesome.
Of all the potential remakes/ports in the world, Warhawk PS4 is perhaps the one I want the most.
I know one reviewer who's not gonna slam it...
@jts1891
And do we learn anything about the motives of any of the factions involved? Do they touch on the mysteries surrounding The Traveler? What you're describing is just a series of events that lacks any real substance.
I'd like to have characters that serve as more than either mission-givers or narrators. There's for instance, not one interaction with Ghost that feels natural, because there's no time spent on relationships between the cha...
@jts1891
It's unfocused. Too many factions are introduced and the plot seems mission-based and random. The sense of urgency evolves pretty rapidly, and the story only touches on the different aspects of the universe.
I feel they wanted to establish the universe more than anything else and tried to touch on too many aspects too quickly.
@jts891
Did anyone really not go off on at least a couple of tangents in Skyrim? Or in Grand Theft Auto? Or in Assassin's Creed, Far Cry or Fallout? Or in any game with side-missions for that matter?
I don't think taking a break from the plot is the issue here. If you forget about the plot the second you divert from it, something is obviously not that great about the plot.

That doesn't make any sense. I think people would be less upset if Sony just said that the free version would arrive later from the get-go. There's absolutely no point in, as you suggest, lying about intending to release the two versions at the same time, then delay the free version and pretend that you have network problems. People would probably be more forgiving of a delay and messed up servers, than of having to wait half a month extra for the free version.
