just because there are 5 people on a team who may so choose to use teamwork, does not make the game a tactical shooter. not more so than any other shooting game on consoles, at least. r2 uses 5 man squads who can work together as a team, and must do so in the "skirmish" mode, but that does not make r2 a tactical shooter. in fact you can make arguments that any shooting game can be a tactical shooter by your definition, if you can find 4 other guys to cooperate with you. and on t...
tru, meatflag does seem like an interesting idea, and im not trying to belittle the gears mp experience, because it has many fans, but im just saying that aside from horde mode, its not really a big jump from what was in gears1, just little twists. gears mp will be fun, forsure, but its very similar to the last.
lol lobster, you must have like a 19" hdtv, because thats probably all your going to get from ALL that money you saved by buying an xbox. oh wait, thats right, 17" 480p kuz of xbox live? oh yeah, how about that wifi...or maybe you just go over to your neighbors house to play.
seriously, though. that saving money on xbox argument is so old.
i agree.
it has more valid points, imo. gamedaily barely even talked about r2, let alone compare the two. wished he would comment more on the r2 mp, though, kuz that is what really is interesting me.
lol real men prefer gears?
gears really is directed at prepubescent teenagers. then again, so is resistance, but seriously. these "real men" you speak of probably are not playing either of these games.
nice. +bubbles
seriously, its all about the options. r2 has the option to get 30v30 games, and that is sweet. gears fans can claim that 30v30 would be a mess, but i bet if they actually HAD a 30v30 gears game all the fanboys would be over that like white on rice, claiming that its the greatest achievement in gaming history.
-and gears being a smart tactical shooter? laughable. gears1 was all about rolling around with a shotty. if that isnt considered a fragfest, i ...
im not denying that gears > r2. most reviewers seem to think that gears barely edges r2, and i have no reason to argue, as i have yet to play either.
however! this article reeks of biased trash. its obvious that gamedaily isnt even comparing the two. listen to the semantics of the article, the way he describes every part of gears in detail, and just adds a quick sentence about resistance. i know everyone knows that gamedaily is biased, but this is ridiculous.
...
meh
eurogamer is biased garbage. plus obvious edge goes to xbox for leading on most of those multiplats, except deadspace(?) which i totally disagreed with their analysis. ps3 ports are harder than xbox ones as weve already discussed. the industry is changing, ps3 will lead in the future. sheesh.
ha. sooo predictable from gamedaily. what a load of biased crap.
meh.
the game will still sell. there are too many socom fans, or people just wanting the headset. im gonna buy mine for the headset...eventually. lotsa good games this season so im going to wait til they iron it out, and they will eventually, which gives me enough time to play other sweet games coming out this season.
agreed. +bubbles
granted the ps3 may not ever have the power to "blow 360 out of the water", i feel that people lose sight that ps3 is still in the beginning(end of the beginning) of its lifecycle, and 360 seems to be hitting the middle of its lifecycle. plus the added fact that it is more difficult to program for, theres no reason for anyone to scream "ps3 is inferior hardware" because it really hasnt hit its groove yet, like 360 has. i mean, look at the di...
again,
ps3 does not need "saving" in japan. it still is dominating at with at least a 2:1 userbase, despite the growth in sales of 360s over the last 6-7 weeks, which that is mainly attributed to the slow economy; no one wants to buy expensive hardware in a recession. but still, there are MANY more ps3's than 360s in japan, although eventually, if this slow economy and trend of 360 growth in sales continues, it may eventually level out.
::sigh::
firstly, doesn't gamepro rate on a 1-5 scale in 1 point increments? not even .5 point increments? im guess that the reviewer sees it as good, just got good enough to put into the 5 range, due to whatever. honestly, in my opinion the scale is pretty stupid, as a 4/5 can constitute, say, like 89/100, but since it technically rounds down to 4/5 everyone assumes its 80/100. to the same effect, gears could possibly have scored a 90/100, meriting ONLY a 1/100 point differe...
wow, im only like 10 mins into the podcast, but im really surprised how much they are tearing apart mirrors edge, which i havent seen anyone talk poorly about. i loved the demo, i had no interest in it b4 i played the demo, and now its on my must-have list.
they are similar
but the character is the same as the one they used in fallout and fallout2, and those games are from the 1990s. when i played bioshock i noticed that, too. but then again i never played systemshock, and i dont know if they had the character in it. hell, i dont even know what systemshock was published, so i have no idea who ripped off of who.
just a thought.
if you havent played the first two, your in for a treat. but i think if you played and liked the first two this one will be a bit of a letdown. it kinda is for me, i loved the first two.
the character creation is a little bit more limiting than the first two, and it puts a heavy emphasis on using guns. not a problem for most, but the first two gave you a lot more freedom in how to structure your character.
i really dislike how they did the vats this time aroun...
lol bubbles for getting caught red handed.
...red-eyed? xD
@1.4
angle of the screenshot. if the ps3 player is jumping at an angle and the 360 player is jumping straight on. look at the lines they are much more horizontal on the 360 version. im not saying that either is better at AA, but this screenshot is not a good point of reference for comparison.
im sorry, but you are either blatantly lying, a complete fanboy, or blind. either way, you are completely wrong.
i have no idea what you are referring to at 3:47, there is no point of comparison between the two, as they are both being played by a person, and the two screens are not showing the same thing. they both seem to run fine at that point too.
in my opinion, the only REAL way to distinguish how well each of them run is in the in game cutscene in the beginnin...
um, i dont want to seem like a fanboy for stating this but...
the cups of your ears are naturally slanted slightly forward to capture sound from in front of you, i thought that this was pretty obvious to anyone who has a mirror...
oh god, im a fanboy now. damn i should have kept my mouth shut.
