100% agree with this. This game fails as art because of it's caving in to genre expectations- no, to video game expectations. If videogames want to be taken seriously, they need to be more subtle in their craft.

Secondly, most of the legitimate criticisms of the game so far make strong points. Some people just don't like the game as much as everyone else; that doesn't make them a hipster. You can't just call anyone who doesn't like something popular a hipster; that's pretty unfair to all the non-hipsters with valid criticisms.
This console will certainly fail if this is true. I'm not a fanboy at all, I'd be saying the same if Sony or Nintendo or anyone implemented this.

Well none of the Drakengard games looked great relatively speaking. Plus it's in the same universe as Nier so perhaps they're going for cohesion. That game's graphics were pretty subpar- not that it really matters.
We will see Beyond Good and Evil 2- definitely on next gen consoles.
