This game didn't seem to come close to topping 3. Sort of an anti-climax.

Of course "we're animals too", but the fact of the matter is that we have brains, and we can conceive of many different ways of doing things. Our "nature" is malleable. We're not hardwired like animals.

If you own a pet and eat meat, it's still fundamentally hypocritical. All that's going on there is a selective blindness- an arbitrary delineation between what you keep as a pet and what you eat. When you eat an animal, you deliberately turn...

Why though? Why do you need that simulation? What about it intices you so much? Maybe it's fun, but that's a twisted illusion. Violence and animal cruelty shouldn't be represented as something fun. Representation is how mass culture and belief are formed, and it's always illusory and exploitative.

Everyone here has this naive view that they're games are free from politics and society. They desperately want to be relieved of responsibility because they'...

Such a hypocrite. The only reason you eat meat is because you're isolated from the meat production process. Meat profits by hiding this information from us- it makes it easier for us to detach the meat from it's source when it's packaged like any other product and sold in parts. You're wilfully turning a blind eye for the sake of gratification.

Pretty sure it's been done before NukaCola.

They've already remastered the IV soundtrack for the DS remake... I wonder how this'll be different? I also wonder if they'll use the remastered V and VI soundtracks for possible future 3ds / Vita remakes?

Of course they don't, but they still largely are. It's an oversaturated market- the industry is in serious creative doldrums at the moment because they've become money crazy- they try as best they can to eliminate the financial risk, and innovation and creativity falter because of it. Games these days are largely safe and convervative relatively speaking- they completely feed into all the expectations of what games should be rather than shifting the paradigm and experimenting. Thi...

Just read and understand my comments very closely, I cannot stress that enough, because you just aren't getting it. You accusing me of things I'm simply not doing and which I directly addressed in my comments.

Do you understand what sexual objectification is? Objectification alone is the rendering of something as an object- defining something as solely matter, that is to say, without an inner-life, without cognitive ability. Think of sexual objectification like having putty in your hand- moulding women to whatever shape you think they should be and naturalizing it, making women think that's how they have to look and be. Of course we all know that women have minds, but when operating in the obje...

"Earlier this week, I criticized Dragon's Crown's sorceress, a character that seems designed to be ogled and leered at as a sexual object. I called it juvenile, and said it was symbolic of a much large issue of sexism and exclusion in the video game industry."

And he's damn right. Honestly if you're hating on Kotaku for making an issue of this, YOU'RE the fool. It's all well and good to say you mean no "ill will" in matters like the...

Hopefully David Cage will be superseded by someone knows what they're doing.

Er no, it was originally a veiled parody of Daredevil and other comics of the time, and the idea of turtles (slow animals, famously) being lightning fast ninjutsu masters was a joke conceived by the original creators. They found it to be a really funny idea.

It's the MTV-seque sheen I hate about this trailer too. The hyper-stylised, urban looking splashes and dubstep / trap beats. Such a heap of crap.

Why??! Why is this so necessary? You've been watching too much Dark Knight, Amazing Spiderman, and Man of Steel.

All this is is grown men too ashamed to like the cartoons and wanting something to make them seem mature while indulging in something for kids. The cartoon is good! Just like it and stop worrying about silly masculine expectations.

A solution to the problem I raised in the second paragraph might be better narrative / story / writing in videogames. A good narrative makes a game world more coherent, immerses the player more, and makes sense of the audiovisual content. Not that everything in a game world should necessarily be explained- mystery is essential- but a stronger narrative would definitely help- a stronger sense of what the game is all about- unless of course you're aiming for something arty which obviously i...

I totally agree, all my favourite games are on the Ps2, the SNES, the Ps1, the DS, the PSP, and the N64.

I have a few theories.

Games have become big as an industry as well as within popular culture. More money at stake means less risk and more palatable and easy experiences. Any feelings of casual-ness or of artistic compromise are usually a reflection of this- of cashing in on trends and stagnating. The boundaries of what a game should be aren't pushed ...

No it doesn't. It looks as good as that woeful downloadable Watchmen game. Music effing sucked too- trap / dubstep bullsh!t plaguing the games industry.

Should be more cartoony. Cartoony turtles are the only good ones, not real, gritty, edgy, turtles.
