The Initiative just sounded like a disaster in the making from the very beginning (sure, the sentiment was appealing). A studio composed of studio leads from numerous AAA studios was bound to have egos clashing left to right.
Doesn't help matters that MS once again dropped the ball by prematurely announcing another rebooted ip (ie Crackdown 3 and Phantom Dust) without making sure that their development teams were on the same page in terms of vision and blueprint for sa...
Nice read. But an interview from 2016?!
No Unreal Engine 5 announcement? Color me shocked.
Apparently it is. There's absolutely no rationalizing as to why this so-called "Remaster" is dropping to as low as 15 fps during battle sequences.
"I'm surprised this indie game hasn't been ABANDONED yet"
Fixed for you.
Sony has several rpg franchises which have remained dormant for ages. Arc the Lad, Beyond the Beyond, Wild Arms, Legend of Legaia, and White Knight Chronicles to name a few.
If you'd ask me, EA screwed up royally when they prematurely killed off Criterion's Renderware in favor of Frostbite, all because they were upset that UE3 was gaining ground on it from a popularity standpoint. The engine was still used widely amongst 3rd parties and proved more durable (particularly for open world games) than UE3 at the time.
No telling the possibilities where Criterion could have gone with a Renderware2.
Not too thrilled about this news (engine switch). History has shown that studios who usually drop their in-house engines in favor of UE come up short. Starbreeze nearly went bankrupt mainly in part to their decision to drop their proprietary engine for UE (forcing many of their engineers learn a tech which was foreign to them on the fly). Hopefully CDPR won't share the same fate.
"More style than substance." So in other words, we've got another Firegirl: Hack 'n Slash Rescue on our hands.
Which is ironic because back in early 2020 after they took Tencent's money, Inaba and Kamiya were both pounding their chests about how they'd (Platinum) never sell to them (MS).
The High Priest boss in Beyond Good & Evil will make you want to break a few controllers. Mainly due to the awkward camera and controls in the battle.
Crossfraudster X
LOL. Get out of here with your fanboy flamebait. Yeah, Nintendo purchased a 2nd Party Japanese developer because they were worried that evil MS (a company SRD Co.'s never worked with) would swoop in and snatch them. Not the fact that Tencent and Embracer Group have been buying up practically every developer in town The US, Europe and Asia.
You trolls are hilarious.
Update didn't seem to fix much of anything. BR1:R still suffers from numerous random crashes on console.
Condemned and Otogi would be out of the question, as those are properties which belong to WB and From Software respectively (Sega only published).
On the topic, what ever happened to Renegade Ops 2? A sequel was all but confirmed (not too long after RO released) with Sega even holding fan polls on what the follow-up should be titled. Avalanche Studios got too busy working Just Cause?
It's not all sunshine and roses with PG and MS. They released The Wonderful 101 Remastered on all platforms excluding Xbox out of spite. Then claimed the reason why it wasn't releasing on Xbox was due to it's engine (the same engine PG's used all their games) not being compatible, which was total bs.
Saturn failed because Bernie Stolar announced publicly that the system wasn't their future. Which ticked off several 3rd party publishers and devs (i.e. Working Designs and Eidos), resulting in them dropping support for the system and working exclusively with Sony and PSX.
That Tencent investment money must be drying up really fast. It's no wonder Platinum's been recently begging MS for work.
So all the fanboys who are constantly ragging on about how Gamepass is going to kill gaming with the Netflix motto, suddenly pull a 180 and are enamored of the notion of Ubisoft+ coming to PS+?
Bunch of hypocrites you all are.
