i bought a 4890 in 2009 and it still runs pretty much everything on medium/high or better settings (depending on how well the game is optimized) at 30+ to 60 fps. don't get me wrong, i want dx 11 compatibility and i'm definitely getting closer to dropping the cash on a new gpu, but when i still get that level of performance out of my current one it's hard to justify the expense just yet.
wow, kotaku logic strikes again. owen good is a dunce.
'Tomb Raider “completely unchanged” after rape controversy that was entirely made up by a few bored and dim-witted videogame bloggers'
there i fixed the headline.
insomniac are great crafters of single player experiences. very sad to see them go full-on online/co-op/multiplayer focused.
i tried full-frontal's beta, and while its a good looking, and probably well-made game, it's just my cup of tea. i was hoping there would be a single player aspect to the game but it looks like maybe that's not happening. bummer for me and people who prefer single player experiences.
yeah totally, i'm glad that its coming out at all - but i cant help but compare it to the ratchet and clank HD updates that just came out... it looks pretty bare-bones in comparison. i know that there aren't a ton of people with 3d tvs, but for me, the inclusion of 3d is a pretty big selling point because i enjoy it when it's offered. but i'm glad other people are excited for the game regardless; i'm just not sure if i'll be picking it up myself.

there is no online multiplayer - offline only.
what a disappointing hd 'update' - no 1080p, no online multiplayer, no stereoscopic 3d support. i might expect that from an ubisoft release, but killzone is a firstparty sony ip - they should treat it with more respect.
yeah, if you buy games you buy games you're never going to play you ARE a dumbass. you're not 'saving money' by buying games your not playing, your wasting money.
the only time i've bought something i've never played is when i purchased one of the first indie bundles for a specific game or two in the collection and i never got around to trying all the other games it came with... i would never buy a specific game on steam, or anywhere else for that matter, and never play it. what kind of dumbass would do that?!
didn't sounds like satire to me, more like holmes desperately attempting to come across as smart and superior. like a couple weeks ago when he called people "lemmings" if they bought multiplatform releases 'on the system their frieds own it on' rather than the 'full featured' version. as if EVERYONE owns a ps3 AND a 360. what a douchebag.
and yet nintendo is outselling the 3DS to an embarrassing degree. the vita is in a sad state, so it's hard to read that sony is 'headed in the right direction'. i hope sales will turn around and the system gains some momentum - it's a great handheld and there's no reason it shouldn't eventually do well... but nintendo is dominating the market. its kind of ridiculous to try and argue they're 'languishing'. they're obviously doing something right to appea...
yeah, i agree. no reason developing a game like dead space should cost that much - the industry is getting out of control with its spending.
yeah, i did the math - lets say the game sells 2.5 mil @ full price (ds 2 sold about that, but many units at less than full price, id imagine). the game costs $60, but $10 of that goes to ms/sony. not sure what retail's profit margin is, but lets say its another $10. then take manufacturing/shipping costs, maybe $5? so we're at $35 a unit that ea actually sees. if the game sells 2.5 million units, thats 87.5 million dollars in profits. i'd bet dead space 2 cost 60/70 million inclu...
not really a 'prediction' considering r* said they weren't going to be there and they're not on the list of attending companies.
...however, gta4 was announced in 2006 at microsoft's e3 event, so...
gamecritics.com chose dead island as their GOTY
this article is underwhelming and shows what is wrong with today's gaming industry 'journalists'.
yeah you said it, man! "first-person-or- shooting" is soooooo gay! killstreaks? more like one-dude-blowing-another-dude- streaks!
i'm curious about stereoscopic 3D support - i remember them talking about patching it in to GOWIII (which obviously never happened) but i hope that at least means it'll make it in to ascension.
"probably" used a modified unreal engine - people have poked around in the code and found hints that the engine could have been a *heavily* modified unreal 2. but even so, it's like pointing out that the call of duty games are based on the quake engine - when they're modified to the point that they don't resemble their original form, it's more like the developers pinched the little bits of code they needed as a foundation and rebuilt from there.

i think they're both actually 'REAL' twitter accounts...! @DanAmrich is linked to from his book's official website (criticalpath.com). @DanAmrich seems to mostly be about guitars, though, for some reason. not sure why he would connect it to his book about game criticism.
