I didn't take 4 years, hackers ONLY started trying to break into the PS3 once the Other OS option was taken out. Which means it took just as long to hack the PS3 as it did the Wii/360.
To only difference is the PS3 is now the most open system in gaming history.
Thats the exact same automated reply they gave about the general exploit and still they have done nothing.
Really is looking like they can't do anything.

Seems like they are taking their time though. I'm sure they had dealt with the USB hack by now. The had time to make a case against the hackers but they still haven't fixed anything.
Kinect truly has got some incredible legs, if this keeps up MS may not cut its price this year.
Sony would have been better off just staying silent like they usually do.
It's a shame for them EU (not including the UK) and Japan don't equal the majority of the gaming world.

Good to hear 3rd parties doing well in Kinect, Kinect will likely have the strongest 3rd party support out of the three main consoles.
I agree the ease of use is what could make it worse than the PSP.
However unlike the PSP a lot of PS3 games have online play. If Sony finds a way to detect the pirates and ban them then it shouldn't become a problem, but it might be quite difficult considering a hacked console will look the same as a legit console to Sony. And i doubt Sony wants to end up banning the wrong people.
Not really, if it does effect hardware to a degree that could change its current standing than software will be greatly effected. Look what happened to the PSP, 3rd parties completely abandoned it.
Can you imagine if Activition or Take Two decided to make COD and GTA xbox exclusive due to fear of piracy, it would be madness. If Sony doesn't get a fix soon, and if they lose their court case things will only get worse for them.
I doubt it how would they sell games at retail, it needs some kind of disc format.

I don't see Sony getting very far with this, if it was so easy to sue hackers MS, Nintendo and Apple would have done so as well.
If anything this just shows Sony really can't combat the hack since the only way they think they can deal with it is removing the creators, but now that its out their everyone will start copying it and making their own.
Sony should just leave it be and not waste money on the trial becuase if they lose you can bet the backlas...

Its only a matter of time before the process becomes more streamlined. I can imagine PS3 games being readily patched on torrent sites ready to be played in a few weeks.

Thats because the majority of high selling 360 games are online focused and people don't pirate those games because they will get banned. A better indication would be looking at the sales of games like Alan Wake or Crackdown (single player focused games), which are some of the most torrented games. Alan Wake had over 1ml downloads more than it actually sold.

No one would be concerned if no one made silly claims like "Kinect will fail at $150".
However it is interesting to see the people who said that grasping for straws, the best spin they can come up with is "it had a $500ml ad campaign". What people don't get is there's only so much advertising can do, if Kinect was crap it would have stopped selling by now but its not, positive word of mouth is selling it something that Move doesn't have due to...
