What if Sony decides they want a bigger piece of the online pie? It could happen when they release their next console. Companies in the game industry are trying to find just about every way they can think of to monetize gaming. Sony is no exception to that. They are not a white knight. They are a company that is interested in profit.
They are trying to undercut Microsoft right now, by being the cool hip uncle that is ironically funny (Kevin Butler) and make it seem lik...
Yes, pillows that shoot bullets.
They really don't matter in the bigger picture or landscape of PC gaming. If they want to support PC more, great. But, really, we can get along just fine without them. They destroyed and disolved some of their most successful Development teams for PC years ago.
I'm assuming they support them in emerging markets, but I'm kind of fuzzy on that. I know Sony does. Regardless, the price increase in Live probably is going towards that. The relative costs associated with maintaining Live should not have changed much since its launch... in fact, it should be more profitable now, then ever before. Their initial outlay in equipment would have been paid for already. They have made over a Billion dollars on Live.
Their profitabil...
My guess is that they are attempting to offset their costs of R&D and production of their new console. With these kinds of items and the price increase of Live, it will help. Plus, they will still be able to rely on sales of the 360 for several years after a new platform launch. My guess is a late 2012 launch.
I think DLC is great, but it would be better if they offered it free or @ a much lower price point. I can understand charging something for some of it, but there were developers (mainly PC) in the past that would create content and release it to their customers for free... yes, free.
I just hope that the shift to a DLC model won't give them a compelling reason to stop including an easy way to MOD their games (SDK). If so, they can still be modded, but it requires mo...
That's really quick. The game will not have been out a month. DLC can be a good thing, but I'm getting leery of this shit.
It seems the Sun will burn out before The Sims will die.
@8-bit - Yeah, it's called every thing we buy since the beginning of time.
I think it's sad they feel compelled to add this in... But, some people seem to like MP. Generally, not me.
wtf is a urinal area? Have you ever been around a woman before? j/k
I'm unclear as to why anyone listens to this guy. Seriously, does he get paid to say this stuff? Is this how he pays his mortgage?
The picture they always use for him make it appear as if he is constipated or something.
That has got to be an all-time hate speed record.
Show me the part in D&D Online where you rape and murder a retarded girl... still waiting.
Hey, I've got another one. Show me how a game/movie/book/comic/fortune cookie/riddle from a cracker jack box/softly whispered words from Steven Seagal MADE anyone murder anybody.... still waiting.
I rest my case.
I think the thought police need to jam a few more parking cones up their asses.
Just because they guy was pl...
Sad, but true.
@Alacrist - There is a fundamental flaw in your logic.
In this senario, it did not cost you more money to produce more product. You have a fixed cost that does not change. Nobody reproduced anything that you produced. It's the same item being bought and sold. This is something that has been done since pretty much the beginning of the concept of ownership or property. How can you say that 10,000's of years of convention should simply go away? It's not broken. ...
Best explanation I have ever heard in my life.
Period.
End of statement.
Truly looking forward to this.
Hopefully it has some depth of story and of gameplay. If so, I'm in.
I have no problem with silent protaganists. There are reasons why a developer chooses to do that, that have nothing to do with platform or storage limitations. But, more to do with story/emersion/delivery concepts.
