I think Apple needs to tone down their bullshit machine. They would be better served by offering a more free marketplace, where the consumer can decide what they want and don't want with their money.
Reviewing games not any worse than reviewing movies, books, wine, hotels, ect.
Of course, there are people that think reviewing/writing about anything is not a 'real job'. But, if you get paid for it... it is.
@tifersnake86 - If you mean EA has bought Valve, no. They are a private non publically traded company that is owned soley by themselves.
I say this because you are replying to a comment about Valve.
"well being a man in your free time involves a lot of smokin weed and sittin on the couch and if you can enhance that with vivid bright moving colors that you can in fact control with something just as simple as your thumbs well fuckin a you've got your day made"

Perhaps the best thing I have ever heard, ever.

Final Fantasy was my first real experience with an RPG and that series will always be something, well, I guess special to me. But, they do need to take their games to the next level and going the MMO route is not my idea of next level.
I hope they can redefine themselves and give us a reason to keep the torch held high.
Just think if someone wrote articles and made comments by the 100's about how console gaming is dead... Does anybody see how stupid this is, or am I alone in a vast wilderness? Go West my son.
Nothing is dead. Nobody is dying. The sky is not falling.
The whole thrust of Steam is a more open distribution platform that will benefit them, the developers and the players. It is not to fist force achievement structures up the developer's ass. This article writer has missed the point. Either that, or he has some kind of anti-steam/anti-PC agenda.
Achievements are fine. I'm certainly not an achievement whore, but they can be fun, sometimes. I don't go out of my way to get them, nor do I think much about them.

I know if I ran a game developing company, I would want to work with a platform that gives me total freedom and no built in royalties or additional fees for updates on my product. Now... where could I find that... hmmm... boy, this is a tough one...
Oops how foolish of me, of course, PC.
You will never have that with a console. That's why an open platform, like the PC, is so attractive to developers.
People can argue about input sc...
How can a platform that is responsible for more sales than all console platforms combined, be dead? Somebody, please explain.
A wordprocessor (typewriter) once started typing on it's own while I was in the basement when I was a kid...
Their claim of and comparison of retail sales figures for the PC is laughable. Also, their idea of comfort and screen size is moot. I am always comfortable when I game on my PC and my screen is 24inch with resolutions higher than what any current console can produce. If I want, I could even hook my PC up to my TV. With a wireless mouse and keyboard, I could play on my couch if I wanted. But, I don't.
Elder Scrolls, check. Mouse and Keyboard, check. Mood lighting, check. Click shortcut, check. Eventual countless mods and user created content, check. Infinite good-times, check. Getting annoyed glances from girlfriend, an inevitable check.
I understand compression. However, regardless of compression or not, 12GB of data is the end result. I suppose they have to do that because not all of them have Hard Drives. Seems kind of lame, but understandable.
That's odd... Blizzard can fit 12GB of content on a DVD.
Even though I'm not a graphics engine programmer, I have some knowledge of programming in general and I understood everything on a abstract level and most of it on a practical level.
@divideby0 - The only reason developers/publishers want to put their games on consoles, is because the more platforms, the more money. However, if they could, they would only release them on an open platform like the PC, because then they don't have to pay the hardware company or deal with their restrictions. It's that simple. It's all about money, not that they like doing it.
That girl from Mortal Kombat is crazy hot... Jade. Wow.
It would have been better for Linden Labs to farm the work for their viewer out to the Emerald Viewer team. It would have satisfied their desire to have control and given the majority of users what they obviously want. They should have been more amenable to working together for common good and profit.
Well said.
"Mindful of this and other factors, NPD announced today that it would soon begin releasing quarterly sales reports that also include revenue from used games, digital downloads, downloadable content, rental and subscription services, mobile games and social networking games (such as Facebook).
When available, those should give investors a more complete look at the financial health of the video game industry."
That means as of right now they are ...
