It is of course, very similar. But, what did everyone expect, exactly? Essentially, they took what Bethesda did with the franchise and they added more Fallout. Bethesda's Fallout 3, was more Fallout-lite (light for those who wish things to be spells correctly) and New Vegas is really Fallout 3. Some people won't understand what I mean, because they have never played the first 2 in the series. Others will simply disagree, to disagree.
In the grand scheme of thing...
Outside... inside... I'm the guy with the gun.

Enough interviews, it's time to release the game. I'm getting media blitzed out here. Developer interviews, speculation blogs, opinion pieces, gameplay videos... ENOUGH!
PUT THE GAME ON SALE NOW! Stop the 2 dollar circle jerk dog and pony show.
When Steam was first introduced with Half Life 2, I was not pleased. I thought it was just another BS deal that would go nowhere... Little did I know, that Steam was a precursor to a larger ideology. Steam has matured since then and a number of competitors have come on to the scene. I think Steam has a lot of positives to it, but with every great thing, there are not so great things. It's an inevitability... like death, taxes... or another CSI / Law and Order iteration.
@Perjoss - I'm confused... have you been on Steam? Where in retail can you get 20 games for 19.95?
When they do their bundles - which is all the time - you get so much value for dollar spent, I find it hard to justify traditional purchasing from a box store. ( Blizzard games excluded)
Many of the packages are for games less than 2 or 3 years old. How can you go wrong with that?
Not to knock you down or anything, but have you come up with any new genre defining/redefining gameplay mechanics or story vehicles lately?
I tend to be sypathetic to much of what you post, but come on man, it's not like pulling a new genre out of your ass is every day fare.
It would be nice if more developers took more risks, but risks are risky; hence the riskiness of risk.
Plus, new ideas are a dime a dozen, but most are not wor...
Interesting observation. I think you are likely on to something. I'm suprised you only have 1 bubble, but I haven't looked at your comment history.
Some people are very happy only gaming on their PC. They don't need Blizzard to justify anything, even if Blizzard is a great developer.
It's like some of you don't get that gaming on the PC is fun and just as worthwhile as anything else we do in life, for ourselves.
True. I think that this game is very enjoyable and have been playing it over the weekend. There have been a few minor bugs, but nothing major. Whatever deficiencies it might have with bugs and performance, it makes up for in relative depth of story/choice and gameplay.
Honestly, I wish we had more developers like Obsidian, even with their flaws.
I have played for about 20 hours and have not had any major problem. In fact, the only thing I've noticed is one time when I shot a super mutant, he ended up floating in air for a few seconds and then came down again. Otherwise, it's been smooth sailing. This is on PC.
I am playing on hardcore and it does make it more difficult.
You will notice that in New Vegas, they don't have a computer AND lock pick option for practically every situation...
Nice pic.
To Maxcer:
No.

That picture makes me think...
Patient Zero... 48 hours later... saturation rate in 5 counties... 78%.
3 weeks later... status update.... 68% of the worlds known population centers corrupted beyond current ability to contain...
Recourse.... systemic sterilization of liabilities.
...Operation Slash and Burn active...
Everything that gets air-time on Oprah's show gets a huge almost unholy boost to their bottom line. I assume it's because mainly women watch the show and women make most of the purchasing decisions for their families.
Not to mention, if you spend $100 - $200 less on games per year, you close any price gap that does exist when purchasing hardware pretty quickly. Long-term big picture thinking people.
I seem to remember glitches, exploits, and game stoppers even 15 years ago.
I think some of the people here are missing the point. Oprah just plugged a product, just before Christmas... This is going to equal some kind of sales jump. How much, I don't know. But, it's going to be positive for Kinect sales throughout the rest of the year.
Whether anyone likes it or not (I'm personally indifferent), it will have some impact.
"Obsidian Entertainment was founded in 2003 after Black Isle Studios bit the dust. Comprised of key talent from the closed studio, Obsidian went on to produce a string of entertaining if unremarkable titles: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights II and Alpha Protocol. New Vegas, however, looks like a sparkling return to form for a once-venerated team."
The last paragraph of this 'article', completely invalidates everything else before it.
So spot on I don't have anything better to add. I just wanted to say I agree.
