Thanks for the interesting blog. I had to laugh at some of the options, lol :)
Pretty much how I thought it'd go.
Anyway, congrats to the winners and thanks everyone for contributing :)
No doubt a trend we'll be seeing more and more often now that online patches can fix everything after release, instead of you know, the publishers actually giving developers the time needed to pump out a finished product.
I think problem was launching the game in a near unplayble buggy mess (As far as online is concerned)
The problem is, EA knew people where going to buy BF4 in droves anyway, and took the (lets patch it later if it sells well) approach all so typical of them and other large publishers.
Actually, considering what is being shown is pre-alpha, i'd say it looks pretty damn good.
Besides, the concept and what the team are hoping to achieve is more important than providing a stunning demo.
I couldn't agree more.
It's nice to revisit a franchise we love, but not so much if all we're doing is playing the same game with a new coat of paint.
Sadly, the ridiculous cost required to develop new IPs, means publishers tend to play it safe and put out needless sequels to current and/or popular titles.
Exactly. Sequels are fine so long as they are relevant and offer something new, instead of existing solely to further milk a fading franchise.
Great blog, you make some excellent points.
If there's any video game company that needs to be held accountable for poor business ethics, anti-consumer policies and the mistreatment of staff/employees, it's EA for sure.
It's not "just games" anymore, this is about the future of our hobby and our fading rights as consumers.
Japan is a very active, work oriented country, so it doesn't surprise me at all that mobile platforms are so popular over there.
That being said, some games should really be coming consoles...
What a lowzy article... Who approved this?
It really is a great game, I was addicted to it for quite awhile, haha. if you haven't played it yet then I highly recommend you check it out :)
Awesome! Can't wait to see the results :D
Voting with our wallets is the best option for consumers, that or purchasing games second hand. Although, soon second hand purchases may not be an option, once we're all forced to purchase a game digitally then we'll have no choice but to fund shady companies like EA, that's if we want play certain titles pubished by them.
The Evil Within is being published by Bethesda right? What is it they've done that makes you want to avoid them? Just curious since I like to be in the know regarding problem companies.
Yeah that's the problem, people are either ignorant or blindly loyal. This "day one" nonsense and pre-order BS is only making matters worse. I'd rather get a good game 6 months after it's release date than fund a corrupt company.
Machinima never really interested me anyway :/ But seeing how easily they can be brought, I think I'll steer clear of them altogether.
Thanks, glad you liked the blog. It's easy to cave and buy a game from EA like dead space (when dead space was good) or Aliens from Gearbox (because it's freaking Aliens!) But we need to be picky now more than ever, especially if we want to discourage such poor anti-consumer behaviour going into this new gen.
Anyway, I look forward to reading your take on the matter :)
I like it :)
I agree. The chance of gamers uniting and passing over a game in order to teach a company a lesson, or to prove a point may never happen.
But I wonder, just how far will publishers push before gamers are forced to take a stand? We saw what happens when gamers unite when Microsoft first unveiled their DRM riddled Xbox One. Gamers caused them to change it, not because MS care or understood the problem from our side, but because they had no other choice.
Or at l...
I know exactly what you mean, it's just people being naive, ignorant or simply apologists.
Really, are we supposed to believe Microsoft is the kind of company who so flippantly signs contracts that they aren't 100% clued in on.
I mean who do people think wrote the agreement in the first place? Elves?
FFX & FFX-2 HD Platforms
-PlayStation 3
-PlayStation Vita
There's no mention of the game appearing on the Xbox 360, you should really remove it from the list of platforms and add the Vita.
Thanks.
