I see this is an important lesson in just how powerful hype can be.
Don't get me wrong, Destiny is in no way a "bad game" but it's definitely not what it was hyped up to be. It's got solid gameplay for sure, but falls average in just about every other area.
That being the case, Destiny being "the UK's biggest new IP launch ever" is for the most part, due to the hype that surrounded it as apposed to the game being amazingly ...
Well.. Remasters are fine when the game is over a year or two old, and is not just being remastered as a cash-in or an attempt to supplement a new console gens lack of worthwhile titles..
MGS HD collection, DMC HD collection and Z.O.E HD collection are amongst my fave.
But we can base our assumptions off of past experience.
From what I can see, Capcom has ignored everyone again. And if the last few RE games are anything to go by, this will likely be another disappointment...
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I want RE games to be bad, it was one of my fave franchises up until the 5th game, and even that wasn't too bad.
I'm done with Resident Evil. Capcom today are completely inept... We ask for Zombies, and what do we get? Mutants with guns... We ask for, solo gameplay free of annoying AI partners, and what do we get? Co-op gameplay and another annoying AI partner.
I couldn't bring myself to finish RE6, got to the 3rd campaign and quit due to how boring and broken the game was. And I never bothered playing further than the second chapter of RE:Revelations. I heard good things about...
Very good blog, you touched on pretty much every contributing factor for Japans obsession with "date-sims" and "schoolgirls."
My brothers wife is Japanese and she says the stressful city lifestyle is the biggest contributing factor for these issues. It also doesn't help that the media industry over there markets young anime girls to both children and adult men.

Actually, the poor PS4 sales in Japan are an indicator that there are very few games being released right now on home consoles that actually appeal to a Japanese audience.
Many smaller Japanese devs understand that there's no sense competing in the big-budget, AAA console market, when their games sell poorly when they try to sell them in the west. Which is naturally what they would have to do to have any chance of covering development costs for current home console games....
I think they may have just been released them on the 360 in the west, because apparently Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate were released on PC and Xbox 360, PSP, PSN, PlayStation 3, PS-Vita aswell as iPhone and Android devices.
But yeah, they'd be sure to sell more if they released them on more than one console.

Are you trying to say that games journalists should just turn a blind eye to the mispractises of other journos/writers because they're "colleagues"? That's not how journalism works, if you get caught lying to and misleading others then expect to get called out on it by your readers and your peers.
Anybody can write about games, what people really want are games journalists who they can trust and rely on to provide them with unbiased and truthful information....
Let's be honest here Abriel, can anyone really defend a website like Kotaku? They have been getting away with this kind of crap for far too long now and something needs to give.
I do get where you're coming from though, but again this is Kotaku we're talking about. They are one of the worst offenders when it comes to misinformation, flame bait articles and out right lies.

That proves nothing. First of all, Link has only ever been male so far, so there's no reason for Nintendo to have bothered making reference to the feasibility of a female Link in the Lore.
Also, if they were to make reference, they're hardly likely to say the "Hero's (or potential Heroine's) soul is what gets reincarnated into each new Link. Because like I said above, there has only ever been a male Link so far.

Look, it's not at all "patronizing" to assume women would want to play a female lead, especially when you consider the fact that most videogames today star a male lead due to the many in the industry believing that most males want to play as a male character.
Regardless of a players gender, I personally feel that a female Link is something that Nintendo need to incorporate at...
It happens all the time... Some of my fave games have received barley any marketing at all.
Hopefully once the hype fizzles out, we'll get more honest reviews coming through and level headed discussions being had. By that time Bungie will have a better idea of what to fix and how to improve the game.
Yeah, it's good to see the new systems are selling well, sales are sure to pick up even more during the coming holidays too.
