It took a combination of gamers, retailers (especially ones that market in used games), the media, Microsoft's stocks dropping, and Sony announcing a console that was cheaper, more powerful, and more consumer friendly.

Yeah, it's Sony's fault the Dreamcast failed...

It took PS3 a few price drops in the $100 denomination, some high-profile exclusives (and not just LBP or Uncharted), and a redesign in the slim form factor to take off from a very rocky start that was indicative of a flop (in some people's eyes). It took 3DS MK7, 3D Land, and a really good price drop to fly off the shelves and into millions of hands as opposed to the sayings of the countless doomsday articles I've read here on N4G during the system's first fiscal year.

Many gamers on N4G don't know what they want. They hate motion controls, but love the Kinect and the Move, right? They hate underpowered hardware and last gen graphics, but bash high-end PC because "I am too poor to afford one and no Halo or Uncharted." They hate Mario and Zelda because they're milked, but play Battlefield, CoD, God of War, Halo, etc. They want more games for Wii U, but complain Bayonetta 2 and Zombie U are exclusive. Sales didn't equal quality, but now ...

Design is design to me. I couldn't careless how ugly or bulky the thing looks like. If this console offers anything that would justify dropping $500 for, I would happily buy the console and just make suitable placement arrangements for the console.

Unfortunately Xbox One doesn't have a thing that would justify me buying the system, especially at $500. The Kinect is something I'll never want to use. It failed to really take off on Xbox 360, but MS still bothered wi...

WitWolfy probably doesn't own a Wii U, see what I did there? Assumptions are fun to make, so why not.

I own a PS4 and Wii U, and the Wii U is used 3x more than my PS4 as of now.

I don't see too many Wii U haters when I am not on the Internet. Most people I talked to about the Wii U are either interested, have one, or genuinely respect the system but not fond of Nintendo games. But when I log into the Internet, it's a totally different world.

Everyone saying that cloud gaming is the future might have a point. PSNow is marketed toward console gamers, both core and casual, and also marketed toward the mobile crowd as they use tablets/smartphones for gaming. It's simply for an expanded audience. Had our worldwide Internet infrastructure been better than it is now, physical media could've already been entirely eliminated, and the dedicated console could've been dead in less than a decade.

This is not the f...

This game looked a bit stale when it was first unveiled, but these new screenshots couldn't look much more different from the first game while being a 2D DK. I am really looking forward to playing this.

Wii U a "failure" or not, Nintendo's 2014 lineup is what I am excited for the most.

Which unfortunately will cost Nintendo a lot of fans. That's what happened to Sega which eventually lead them out of the console business' exit door.

Nintendo is the publisher for Bayonetta 2 which is why it's exclusive. You can't please everyone, you want games for the Wii U, but complain the games are exclusive.

Worst case scenario is in 4 years into Wii U's lifespan Nintendo will cut support completely and release something entirely different. The company as a whole isn't doomed over one console.

If every subsequent platform Nintendo releases since the Wii U is a complete disaster like Sega's then the entirety of Nintendo has a lot to worry about. But Nintendo is a relatively healthy company and they have some room for failure. If the Wii U is considered a "failure&...

Nintendo released an expensive product, some of their most die-hard fans bought it, it's been over a year and they should just axe it? That will cost Nintendo some fans that believed in the Wii U, a lot of PR, and a lot of their revenue stream.

I am looking at 26 platinums, and have been collecting trophies since the introduction of them (LBP I think is one of the first games to use them). I only collect platinums from games I really enjoy. Quantity isn't an issue, the quality of time spent collecting those platinums is.

You won't see any Disney platinums on my profile, apart from Kingdom Hearts.

This is what Nintendo Wii U needs. Hopefully things will gradually improve in terms of sales from this point on.

Dragon's Crown for 12 year olds? You must be testing out your sarcasm detector on yourself.

It's not smaller which is good. The original DS had a great sized world to begin with. No complaints here.

It's hard to say which system I use the most, Wii U or PS4. Wii U is a really fun piece of console because it has good games. Good games are the reason why a console is worth using at all.
