There seems to be alot bad press for this title.
Perhaps it's me, or perhaps the game does has flaws. Who knows.
Also, in the interview, he states the game is around "10 hours long".
The completion times are all over the place...
Also, "The most important thing for me is that people try to play Vanquish as Vanquish and not as a generic cover shooter. I’ve seen any number of people play the game without real...
Some of his complaints of the game are in fact, not true.
He talks about he missed punching an enemy and depleted his bar, he couldn't run away, and ended up dying.
Actually, if you miss a melee attack in game, it doesn't depletes the A.R.S. Bar, and thus, you can rocket slide out of danger.
Just a little detail I found while reading his review.
Did he EVEN play the Demo?
It has the best number of ammo BUT THE WORSE DAMAGE OF THEM ALL.
Seems like Jim is crying because the game kicked his ass, and the review's a full rant about "How the mechanics suck because I don't know how to use them properly and in wich occasions", "The game is full of one-hit kills", etc.
Playing the game at this moment.
Most of the oh-so-called "recycled" bosses are in fact, bosses that became normal enemies.
I.E., you say "Wow, this dude was pretty though.." and at the next level you have to kill 3 of them at the same time.
Although, now that I look at it, 16 deaths seems pretty good for a first playthrough on a game where some bosses one-hit you.
Hm, I'll have to play it myself and see how long it takes me.
But doesn't that dismisses IGN's statement of 6-7 hours?
Or perhaps the game's length comes down to the player?
They could've totally tacked on more missions to drag on the game!
On a serious note now, things like this are what adds charm to games.
I'm going to have a blast with it.
I must download this! I love me some Turn-Based RPGs.
One is fun to play and worth replaying.
The other isn't, despite having multiplayer.
@AssassinHD
How can you have consistency in review scores despite not being able to enjoy said game?
The gameplay might be flawless, and graphics could be beautiful, but what if the game isn't fun?
If the game simply isn't enjoyable? Would you recommend said game to other people?
Yeah. Reviewers a...
It's 6-7 hours long, but the reviewer stated that it's more like an arcade shooter of some sort.
You hunt down high scores, there's also the challenge mode, yeah.
Besides, it's not all that short if you compare it to other shooters, and there seems to be enough variation.
I disagree. Shooters can feel very different depending on the situations you're on, boss differences and enemy variations.
You won't be using the same tactic for a smaller enemy with a bigger enemy that throws missiles at you, nor you will be using the same weapons.
Play the challenge mode Demo, and see the enemy variation there. You aren't doing the same crap over and over again.
Uncharted did this on level design. For it to not ...
It's 6-7 hours long, according to the reviewer.
We DID see a guy that completed the Demo level in 4:45.
Problem is, he probably spent HOURS learning on how to do so. I'm quite sure that guy will enjoy doing the same thing on every mission of the game.
That was the worse attempt of a joke I've ever seen.
Anyways, judging by your name and avatar...
...Demon's Souls was beatable in 5 hours, bro.
I completed a new run in 5 hours 45 minutes. I'm quite sure I took a picture of the time, but eh, who knows if it's lying around this hard drive or not.
Then you my friend, were playing it wrong.
God, now I get why games are so casualized. All of these self-entitled "gamers" are mentally challenged to such levels they can't get that a game plays differently from a simple cover-based shooter, nor explore or exploit said mechanics IN THE DEMO.
Neckbear tried to clear it up. I tried to clear it up, mainly because reviewers will think this is GEARS OF WAR or UNCHARTED and SIMPLY WON'T GET IT.
Look, think about it as an Arcade game. Sin and Punishment 2 or ZOE, or hell, a music game. It's not about the campaign, nor the story, it's about the gameplay, speedruns, records, you get the idea.
God.

Hm. Interesting. Eh, I barely find the stages in-g...
I'm a few hours in, and it's awesome.
Heard some people took 8 hours to beat it, though. Like, that could be the average, or around that.
As I said, the completion times are all over the place, so my guess is on how fast you are to complete everything.
