if ANYONE READS THEIR END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (eula) it will tell you that you have purchased a right to play a copy of their game on your hardware. The only thing you own is the serial number or the disc it came on. This just makes language even more plain than it already was. There aren’t very many of “us” who buy the headset. That means not many devs have a lot of incentive to dump a lot of money into developing on it. Hence why we get stupid games for it.

I own one and forgot about it. Zero interest in almost every title that comes out. After the initial rush of gt7 and a cool horizon side story game that felt more like a tech demo, I’m out. It doesn’t offer much more than any other vr platform out there. Hell your prob get more use out of a quest 3. It does the same stuff, has mostly the same game library of cartoony silly vr games that are just rehashes of existing vr games, but can also support web based be stuff cus it has a browser too. ...

I’m not surprised. I love a good single player game, but if I’m being honest, the most FUN Ive ever had in my gaming career has been the wild, cool, hilarious and amazing unpredictability and competition that arises in a good multiplayer game. That’s why I don’t understand the hate towards games as a service from some gamers, but also completely understand why when they are good, get popular really quickly and why studios want to strike that gold with their own attempts.

I agree. An exclusive intentionally limits who can play it. You’ll get disagrees because loyalty supersedes logic amongst the diehards. What’s objectivity, anyway….

They are basically saying “this game is a success bc we chose to intentionally limit who could play it”. Exclusive games will almost always sell less than multiplatform games. Exclusives primary purpose are to sell consoles, that’s why they are exclusive to their respective consoles. It’s a calculated marketing maneuver. But bc it’s limited to one console, nobody else can play it.

Studios will go in the direction of success. If single player game sales are far less profitable and have less engagement/attachment rates and multiplayer/gas games are profitable and keep players engaged for longer, guess which ones they are going to prioritize… and the other thing… if single player games are having a harder time than gaas games and that bothers you, unfortunately, you are minority, otherwise those other games wouldn’t be so successful.
