The elephant in the room tho is personal accountability. It’s easy (albeit basic) to blame the big, bad corpo, but microtransactions wouldn’t be where they are if gamers didn’t spend money on them. As it stands the MTs usually make more than the game. Publishers know raising game prices will cause backlash, so they do MTs to compensate. But the adult conversation is consumers determine the success of products with their wallets. So if MTs are a huge thing, it’s because we as consumers told th...
They should refund the money if they aren’t following thru. This game could have been so fun, but its still a complete disaster. No man’s sky, cyberpunk and even halo infinite (to a smaller degree) managed to make somewhat disappointing launches into pretty great games after the fact, but the radio silence on this game is deafening.
Fulfill it or kill it.
sucks but business is business. its not just about being profitable. that's def the goal, but the goal is also to remain profitable. and if the forecasts suggest that the studios will cost more than the profits they will make into the future vs operating costs etc.... you're in a delicate spot. indie shops still cost money to run and the reliability of profits vs operating costs vs future sales are things we as the public just aren't privy to. The last studio I worked at made Tita...
and that's why studios including son's camp are investing in games as a service.
"ruined the game"....
a bit superlative there. the game isn't "ruined", its got a bug. bugs can be fixed. when something is ruined, it is no longer usable permanently.. software is hardly permanent and can be fixed 100% of the time. so while it may be unplayable for some right now, and that's annoying, it isn't ruined... unless they leave it... which they obv won't.
they should also release it on xbox. this is just one of those games where it makes sense. I'm playing on the ps5, but have a ton of xbox friends who would love it.
Exactly.
Yet another thing I’ve been saying for a while to many disagrees. They gotta adjust the rate somehow. Studios aren’t laying off and closing up for no reason. You can argue who is pocketing the cash but it doesn’t change the fact that games have gotten exponentially more expensive to make, while the relative cost when adjusted for inflation has remained flat or even decreased. A SNES game in its time was often times the equivalent of $70-80 in todays money and took a fraction of the team and t...
lol I love it when I make comments about stuff like this and everybody disagrees with me as if I’m trolling, but then articles that confirm my point get posted days later. Lmao. The entire Final Fantasy IP portfolio has been underperforming.
Ppl say there’s too many gears of war or halo? Uhh what final fantasy release are we up to now, not including all the re-releases?
everybody says "SINGLE PLAYER GAMES ARE THE BEST I ONLY PLAY SINGLE PLAYER!"
then one of the best single player games in years comes out and struggles to earn its budget.
sad. This game is amazing.
Fun fact: no business is your friend and every business’ primary objective is to make money first. Sony included. Where are the articles detailing Sony’s recent closures and layoffs (that hit my family personally)??
Sony and Nintendo aren’t your friends either. This is what we call MARKETING. It’s this whole thing where they try to sell you products by making them feel relatable, welcoming and will make your life better.”be a part of our community”. I know this cuz I work ...
I’m glad you see the thru the reality distortion field so many on this site don’t. My brother-in-law was just let go from PlayStation (here in PV/LA) literally just weeks ago after taking the job just 2 months before. He quite his previous job that was doing just fine to work for Sony.
Take my social security and bank account numbers too! Here’s a picture of my wife and our address.
You can def tell which outlets actually view PlayStation objectively. This and ign being 2 of them. These smaller rags 10/10!! 9/10!! Can’t take that seriously when the legit pubs aren’t quite being so generous. Also - very very very very few games deserve a 10, and only slightly more deserve 9s imo. So thanks to the rags actually being objective and critical.
Agreed. At least take the top common requests That meet a threshold tho (if 500,000 ppl are making the same request that should be listened to). But otherwise people who aren’t game designers will request things that just don’t work. You wouldn’t hire your cousin to do your marketing campaign for your multimillion dollar business, you’d hire an experienced pro.
So most Ubisoft games can just be set to autogrind then, eliminating the need to buy or play them.
Just hit this site for a quick post work scroll. At this time on this load using my phone, there are 6 HDII articles and not one of them is worth a click.
It’s a great game, but this is getting stupid, and it makes the site less interesting bc of it.
Agreed. They know they gotta come out swinging on this one. I’m pretty excited for it. Franchise is near and dear to me.
Oh good. That should spare us from 3 months of pointless internet trolling drama
You mad, bro?
Next up: Helldivers 2 devs occasionally snack and take bathroom breaks. Here’s 4 articles about it.
