Really is pretty annoying these days, all you get is one hour of stupid pointless challenges (most of which are set up) and Bradbury is getting more and more annoying as the weeks go by, although the prize funds are really worth winning.
Boy that guy kicked my ass a few times, but I enjoyed every god damn minute. I have to agree with you about the scale and 'epicness' of the game it's simply outstanding and unrivalled by anything else, a game you need to play to understand how good it is.
Masterpiece sums it up nicely. The sheer scale of the game is simply outstanding and as for the graphics, man o man they are something else.
Are the Kevin Butler adverts not on in the UK, they are without doubt the best game ads ever. You know what your grandma did for fun when she was your age, she pushed a hoop with a stick......... with a stick. Please please show these in the UK.
Is a 72% better game than Halo.
The 'true essence of what gaming is about' is enjoying playing great games not hanging on to past times, no matter how good they were. I still think a lot of people are mistaking happy memories of time spent with friends in care free days for actual quality of the games we played. Anyway each to their own, but if anyone truly prefers Golden Eye and Turok to U2, K2 and the like then good luck to em. but I sure as hell know which gives me the most enjoyment and it's not the oldies.
Well if you enjoyed those games more than great, but I'm afraid when I go back and play the old classics the reality is that they just don't compare to today's blockbuster games for gameplay, features, graphics (obviously) and the all important one enjoyment. KZ2, MAG, even MW, of which I'm not the biggest fan, are all far better than Golden Eye and Timesplitters ever were. Maybe the happy memories are not just of the games themselves but the mood of the moment.
To see if the memories still stand and I'm afraid they don't. I spent countless hours playing Timesplitters and thought it one of the greatest games ever, but after playing it for an hour it becomes apparent just how much games have moved on, the graphics obviously are not comparable but I had recollections of it being quite difficult, truth is I haven't played the game for maybe 7 or 8 years, picked it up and breezed through story mode, the maps are small, character animations poor, control...
I simply couldn't disagree with you more, games weren't more fun back in the day, they were fun at the time sure, but time has moved on, the game play then was so much more simplistic and as for more features, seriously you have to be kidding. The games that we played 10-15-20+ years ago are clouded in happy memories and looked back upon with fondness but never when going back to play these games does the reality match up to the memory.
Nostalgia is a great distorter of reality, sure Golden Eye was probably the pinnacle of shooters back in its day but if it was released now it would be met with disdain. That's progress
Gotta say I'm loving this game, but it's not a pick up and play instant gratification type of game, if your going to get to grips with it your going to have to put the time and effort in as it's a much deeper game than the likes of MW2, but that's what gives it longevity. I'd say give it a try but just don't expect the 'arcade' type of game play that most shooters try and cater for. That said it is more accessible and easier to get into than Socom. Happy shooting
Whether it gets good or bad reviews is totally irrelevant, to me the game is exceptional. As for the review scores, they are only other peoples opinions and lets be honest how many complete strangers opinions would you take any notice of ? I personally thought MW2 was only worth a 7 but would any one not play it because of my opinion, of course not. The people who will enjoy MAG already know they enjoy this type of game and the people that don't probably wont enjoy MAG.
but I just can't see the point of it. The new range of smart phones will do pretty much everything the 'IPad' does and still fit in your pocket, if you need something more powerful a laptop would surely be a better choice.
I for one am really looking forward to 3D gaming. The sense of immersion can only be increased when playing in 3D, although like with movies games will probably have to be designed with 3D in mind to make the most of the effect.
It's also easier to be rude, ignorant and a little nasty when the guys/gals your 'talking' to aren't in the same room.
Whether you agree with him or not is irrelevant, the guy is full of hate.
Apart from common sense it seems !
Then why is it you sound full of hate yourself ?
to hear how defensive people get when anyone dares to criticize Natal. The thing is motion controls don't get everyone excited, I played motion games in arcades years ago, anyone remember POLICE 24/7 ?, I've played the Eyetoy motion games on PS2/3 and got a Wii on launch day so it's fair to say I have a broad range of experience with motion controls. Unfortunately it hasn't been one that has actually added anything positive to the gaming experience, the fun hasn't been increased, the sense of...
3D is something that if done right really improves the experience, whether that be from a game or film. Of course not all games would benefit from 3D just like not all games will benefit from motion controls, but 3D is going to take gaming to another level something that I don't think is achievable via motion controls. I have to say though they really need to settle on a 3D standard before it can have mass market appeal, for instance are they all going to use passive or active glasses, are we...
