If the standard price of games go up, naturally subscription costs will go up as well.
Right now Microsoft is taking a loss on GP. How long they will continue to do that is the question.
If you only buy digital, which a lot of people do.... then obviously yes for them.
I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to find anyone really paying $15 a month. Microsoft is not making money off of GP currently, they said it themselves.
File this under NO SHIT SHERLOCK.
The reason it is bad is because of Microsoft's track record when it comes to purchasing. The games have always become worse under Microsoft.
To clarify, any game with a locked resolution for regular X1.... will have that same locked resolution on Series S. A game locked at 900p will be 900p on Series S. Unless the default X1 game has dynamic resolution capable of going above 1080p no change to resolution will be seen.
Idiots all getting caught up because I said "upscaling".
Games designed for X1X will look like they would on a regular X1. That is my point. It is a shame that the games would not even be able to have a 1440p resolution which the system is capable of. It is a shame that they put out a new console not even capable of 4K. These consoles are supposed a whole generation.
Their claims are so full of shit and misleading.
Just because a resolution will be doubled or tripled through upscaling doesn't mean the game is going to look any better. It could look worse even. If the textures are 480p, you can't magically make it look awesome.
If the devs don't make patches it won't be much.
Devs made all kinds of patches for X1X optimization and NONE of that will apply to Series X. Which is a dam...
I mean do we need articles for this? Do you buy your games in physical for any reason? Or is the PS5 going to be your only way to play movies on disc?
Yall are funny.
PS had the best showcases by far.
Crushed Series S with the $400 digital.
Completely sold first waves of pre-orders in a matter of minutes.
I'm sure Sony is real mad at Jim. Damn it Jim!!! We sold out too fast!!
Microsoft hasn't show anything worthy of a next-gen title. Sony has.
That is one big difference.
So what? Microsoft is purposefully starting with an underpowered system. That's different than what the Pro and X1X were.
Is Series S capable of lasting 7 years without causing development issues?
Right, it is the end of the world.
Anyone who thinks Series S is going to fly off the shelfs just because it is the cheapest are completely ignoring last gen. The X1 was constantly on sale for about $200, 100 less than the PS4 and Switch. It did not help them. It did not increase their sales by any manner.
While there are a lot of dumb people in the world, I don't think a lot people (even parents) just go to a store and say "what's the cheapest console you got?".
@Cell
Sony did say they start tomorrow. Some retailers sold early. Seriously why do you all keep putting that on Sony? If you all think Sony didn't tell these retailers when they could start selling... then they would have been selling them prior to Wednesday and Thursday. Obviously they told them something.
Sony said preorders would start Thursday. Some started before that, they didn't follow the rules. Someone even figured out how to glitch Amazon's site to get them early. Sony can't control that.
Microsoft has yet to prove they are doing anything with next gen. None of their first party titles have shown anything like that. Halo Infinite looked like a game from 2013. It was embarrassing and everyone knows that.
What Sony has shown with Miles Morales and Ratchet and Clank is proof of the difference between the two companies.
He never says they wouldn't do cross-gen. He said games they make will make use of the new capabilities.
He didn't lie.
What a dipshit. He is basically saying that if the devs focus on trying to get a high resolution... the FPS could suffer. Yes, it is true. But guess what? The same thing could happen on the Series X.
Game Mode A designed for "FPS" mode with a steady locked 60 FPS and 2K.
Game Mode B designed for "resolution" with a pure 4K, but not a locked 60 FPS.
That doesn't mean Game Mode A is better. Devs made a choice.
Another Sony hit piece. Disastrous week, riiiight.
