Article confirms what I expected. Yes, there will be minor improvements without a patch.
You will get a smoother frame rate if the game previously couldn't. But you won't get higher fps.
You will get better resolution in dynamic resolution games, but you aren't going to go above 1080p.
So games with Pro Boost Mode enhancements will be better than these things.
Why is no one questioning how this will work? Sure it will help some games, like keep games that are supposed to be locked at 30fps, but still dip.
But if a game for example is 900p and locked at 30fps.... what is Scorpio going to do automatically? Upscale it? That isn't boosting. It won't natively change the resolution will it? It won't change the frames will it?
You're right and that is my point. Without the casuals, they will never eat into Sony's lead. All they're going to do is sell to hardcore MS fans who already own an X1.
This is consumer friendly from a refund standpoint obviously.
This certainly isn't going to attract any more devs. If anything it will make them less likely to support X1 if they view it like these guys do.
