A more accurate title would be “The PlayStation 3 Outranked The Xbox Series X|S in 2022's Most Played Consoles by HowLongToBeat Members”.

The number of platforms a game is on is irrelevant because the list excludes platform specific publications. From the rules section:

“To avoid platform bias, votes from media outlets that are exclusively focused on a single platform or family of platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, PC, etc.) are not counted toward the total.”

There are just way less reader’s choice counted this year. Elden Ring has won 44 out of 64, which is 68%. TLOU 2 won 114 out of 177 readers choice, which is 64%. So Elden Ring is outpacing TLOU2 for readers choice as well as critics choice.

I agree that Kinect being bundled with every Xbox One hurt the console’s launch, causing it to be more expensive than the PS4. But Kinect was very successful during the 360 era. Kinect released in 2010 and sold 8 million units in 2 months. The 360 also saw its highest sales from 2010 - 2012. Kinect went on to sell 24 million units by 2013. That’s a 30% attach rate to the 360, which is insanely high for a peripheral.

I think it can surpass TLOU2 by the time all the awards are in, if as many awards are counted as there were in 2020. Looking at the results from 2020:

https://www.gameawards.net/...

TLOU2 won 322 out of 648 awards. So just a hair under 50%.

In comparison, so far Elden Ring has won 162 out of 218 awards. That is 74%. Elden Ring is doing dramatically better than TLO...

It’s not as good as Dead Space 3.

They dominate the music industry, the movie/TV industry, and inevitably they will dominate the gaming industry. We’re still in the early days but just look how well Game Pass is doing even with few big releases, and imagine how well it will be doing when games like Starfield and Call of Duty hit. And I’m sure PS Plus will explode when Sony inevitably starts releasing their first party games day one.

Err… what does when it was announced have to do with the development time? Would Todd be fine with it taking this long if it hadn’t been announced? Would it take less time to develop if it wasn’t announced?

PlayStation Now launched 8 years ago, and Now subscribers were automatically upgraded to PS Plus Premium when the new tiers launched.

It may be super old tech, but it’s still the best selling console every week.

I know you’re trolling, but Game Pass Ultimate has always offered extra “perks” to subscribers like free trials and DLC. Seems pretty par for the course.

Sony has done the same thing with PS Plus. I remember getting 3 free months of Netflix as a Plus subscriber and I had a discounted Spotify membership through Plus for like a year.

Then Spotify started offering a free Hulu account with a new membership, so I signed up for that. I’m pretty sure we can say ...

The lack of an SSD is what is holding back cross gen games. The Series S has the same SSD as the X. So next gen only games can be built from the ground up with the SSD in mind. The S version will run at a lower resolution, but should not affect development ambitions.

The last numbers Sony gave for PSVR sales were 5 million. I definitely can’t see PSVR2 reaching 10 million sales.

That is the original PSVR setup. They released a second model in 2018 that was a little easier to set up, but still way more complex than PSVR2.

Honesty, these kinds of unique games get me far more excited than the big AAA games that all follow the same formula these days.

No. You’re thinking of standby mode which consumes more energy than PS5’s rest mode. Quick Resume, however, does not require your console to be in standby. You can use energy saver or even completely unplug the console and Quick Resume will still work.
