Yeah, agreed. Its physics were beyond its time, and sadly Ubi discarded a lot of cool stuff that made FC2 stand out and dunbed it down for FC3 and upwards. There are a bunch of videos showcasing all the little impressive details Far Cry 2 had.

I'm glad the game has done (critically) well. Probably should have sold a bit more, but perhaps Ubi didn't expect the game to do so well in the reviews that they skimped a bit too much on marketing, or too many folks soured by Ubisoft over the years now refusing to pick up their games at launch/full-price ...

Personally I'd rather see them drop licenses though. I don't care about real-life players, venues, tournaments and brands. I'd rather see them just going with fictional locations so you can have far more variety and thus have gorgeous locations to place your courts in, as well as cool colorful fictional characters.

Last time I checked, but it's difficult to find exact information on it, the Japanese release has Japanese voices/dub, but you'd be unable to play it with English subtitles, so it seems the devs/publisher is really going out of its way to deny their fans to play their game with some language-combinations, which seems weird to me in this day and age where we have so many different people of different nationalities living all over the world.

Enough has been said about this game already. The gaming world shrugged when it was announced so many years ago, and instead of listening to all the criticisms from the community back then, Ubi just sailed on and kept making a game nobody really wanted. What a waste of money and effort.
