Amazing what can be achieved when you just create and release a bunch of cool games each year, instead of taking 5-6 years to develop a single game, or gambling on scoring big with one live-service hit ...

Capcom understands this, Koei seems to get it. Perhaps some Western studios and CEO could take some notes ...

That's disappointing news for sure, end of an era, but considering the on-going issues, it's certainly a decision I understand.

Good luck, and thanks for everything!

I assume we'll also be able to use an Xbox controller or other Bluetooth controllers on SteamOS, so I'm happy we'll have cheaper options. 99 bucks is just too much for me, to pay for ANY controller.

Super Meat Boy 3D a 4 seems ridiculously low.

A 5 for Crimson Desert will probably be another stain on Edge's already very spotty record.

This game will age like fine wine. This review will age like sour grapes.

Indie-studios have been showcasing their creative superiority and bravery over AAA-studios/releases for a while now.

Personally. I have zero interest in AI slop in any of my entertainment, so regardless of what Sony, Ubisoft, MS, EA, etc believe the future is, I'm just not gonna touch any of that stuff.

Halfway during the 360 era, I'd argue, when they had a massive success with 360 console gaming, then saw what Nintendo was doing with Wii, and went after that audience with Kinect. That's when it all went very downhill, very fast.

Their XBO announcements killed them.

They keep setting themselves up to fail with crazy expectations, it seems.

Always hated this campaign. It goes against everything I want from a gaming-console.

An Xbox should be an Xbox. A dedicated home-console, focused on a pure console-gaming experience. Which, for me, means ease of use, physical ownership, no online demands, etc.

I wish we would just go back to the basics in this industry.

Planning on buying it once it hits a nice price.

With the price of new PCs now at absolutely ridiculous highs, it's nice to know you could turn a PS5 into a creative workspace beast.

I’d argue Xbox completely lost their major advantages over the competition halfway through the 360 era. They came out of the gates, swinging and winning, with 360 being a HUGE success, especially in the West. Then, Nintendo had a hit with Wii & motion-controls, and Microsoft looked at that and said; “Hey, we’d like a piece of that pie as well!”. That’s when they changed course and started shifting towards Kinect. Which obviously was a huge flop.

That decision/change in ...

It's a shame they never added the same CRT-filters to Origins that Sonic Mania has ...

It makes such a difference.

Their trailer at the State of Play looked very underwhelming and did a very poor job conveying how big the difference was between the old version and the upgraded version. Only after watching some proper comparison videos was it made clear what a big difference it is.

Great to see a modern classic getting the love & respect iit deserves from the devs in the form of a free update. Major kudos.

The first collection didn't have any option to play the games in Japanese language with English subs, which made it completely uninteresting to me, and I expect the same issue with this one, so *shrugs* ...

Such a shame. These are all classic games, but it seems Konami straightout refuses to release them in the West with the Japanese voices.

They should just make games. That sounds crazy, I know, but, hear me out.

No need for dev-times to.take 3+ years. Just stick to formula. Not every game needs to be bigger & better than everything else. Not every game needs to be GaaS. Not every game needs to completely re-invent the wheel.

They KNOW how to make a cool Splinter Cell game; Interesting story, 8-10 levels, just go and make it. Give the people want they know, want and love. It doesn't ...

Game seems cool, but without a physical complete edition I doubt I'll ever pick it up.

123d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

I still prefer buying physical, especially for SP games. Just gives a much stronger sense of ownership.

Obviously, in many countries/regions they have actively made stores which sell phsyical games scarce, so when customers no longer have viable options to buy their games phsyical, they'll have no other option but to buy them digitally, or just shrug and skip them completely.

I think many gamers would still love an Xbox for gaming, if Xbox would still focus on console gaming.

However, when Microsoft honestly doesn't want to DO console-gaming (subscriptions, lack of physical, lack of ownerships, mandatory accounts, 'everything is an Xbox', price-hikes, etc), then yeah, gamers are gonna shrug. Especially when their exclusives are now coming to competing platforms.

Ninja Gaiden Black 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4, and some slightly older games like Stellar Blade, Wukong, etc.

Nioh 3 will be semi-open-worlds, I believe.
