Thing is xbox brought us Halo, 360 brought us Gears and solidified forza, X1 should have brought us an action adventure game to compete with uncharted but instead they tried to buy tomb raider.
Granted with the likes of quantum break and recore and such, they've been trying, But I think there's a two fold problem there, one those games just plain aren't as good as Sony's offerings (based on commercial and critical reception) and compounded by xbox gamers being a lit...

Ah, ok. Fair point. Sorry, it came off as "my opinion carries more weight because I own both." Thanks for clarifying.

Well I own both of those, plus a Wii U, plus a PC. your point?

3338d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

yeah, trading mine in soon along with my PS4 to grab a Pro. Gamestop is offering $100 for it and $125 for the ps4. Cut the pro price by more than half The few games I have for my X1 will probably make up another $25ish.
And thanks to my PC, I won't be missing out on anything from them.

Keep in mind, I did say "technically". thing is, teraflops isn't exactly the best way to measure power. A much better measure would be if they gave us the gpu and cpu specs.

Can you list those 25 xbox one games that aren't available on PC or PS4?

Just curious cause the only one I can think of off the top of my head is sunset overdrive.

Yeah my guess is they got spooked by what the price would turn out to be and decided to tone it down. Really all they promised was 6 teraflops, which can be reached in a variety of ways (PS4 Pro is technically capable of 8 teraflops, even though it will undoubtedly be weaker).
Right now they're probably just shooting to make sure it's more powerful than the PS4 pro, has some native 4K games and hits 6 teraflops while struggling to keep the price within reason.

Just my opinion/prediction. But I don't think they're starting a new generation so much as getting rid of their last traditional generation. I'm thinking of all the talk of them doing away with generations, xbox as a service, the introduction of play anywhere and the pressure from shareholders to drop xbox.
If I were a betting man I'd put money on scorpio being the first step of a compromise that will work heavily in the shareholders' favor in which xbox will be...

From where I sit, I think what's happening is they blew their wad on the launch line up and are now playing catch up both on software development and hardware manufacturing.

Honestly, I don't think they should try. It's too late for that. They should have pushed hard for that long ago. Right now, I would say their smartest play would be to position themselves as a secondary console. Push a message of xbox and PS being essentially the same, so don't buy both, grab one and a switch.

@dash, you just made my day.

Next big one off the top of my head I'd guess is farpoint here in a couple months. But they'll have plenty of smaller ones between then and now.

So only NPD and ignoring the rest of the world. Not only that you have to ignore 6 moths of the year. Even then you're clinging to ambiguity since it was 4 month out of the last six. It's only by totaling up all sales in just NA, for only 6 carefully selected months that you can make that claim. I gotta say, you spin me right round baby, right round. No worries though, keep picking those cherries.

ummm, no. PS4 always outsells xbox 1, slim or no. to get to xbox 1 outselling PS4 you have to do quite a bit of cherry picking. I know you'll only focus on NPD and ignore the rest of the world, but here's some food for thought, any gains X1S made in NPD got wiped out by Japan sales alone.

Is that the same Phil that said he had no interest in an xbox 1.5?
Not saying X1 is definitely getting left behind, just saying Phil isn't exactly the most reliable source.

Agreed, I'm so happy to see the "we HAVE to launch in the fall to make money" line of thought start to die.
Sprinkle them through out the year.

While I agree with you, It hasn't had time to prove itself as such yet. Though I suspect my comment will be outdated in less than a month.

You'd think they made enough off the first two to fund this themselves.

So they'll be upscaling too. Seems like they're running into issues with pricing if you ask me. They're probably trying to hit a 5 or 6 hundred dollar price point and now have to make some sacrifices. My guess is some games native 4K, but most will be upscaling.
