no, it's about value proposition. this is what's lost on xbox fanboys. It was never about PS4 is more powerful. It was that PS4 was more powerful for far less. It made MS look like they were overcharging. that left a bad taste in people's mouths.
I agree with you but a lot of that is due to the shareholders that put constant pressure to kill xbox because xbox doesn't make windows level money for them. So I think their xbox team is in a bit of a tough spot. MS has a boat load of money, xbox does not. so they have to watch what they do and appease people who don't really care about the art of games, just the flow through on the financials.

I believe in MS, I still think they'll hit 70 million or there abouts this gen. But the fact that they haven't said they're outpacing the 360 since January... they used to pull that almost every month even after they stopped giving out sales numbers. So they're not outpacing their best selling console, and said console came in last place last gen.

Ever notice how it's only after scorpio got announced that xbox loyalists started the whole "people bought PS4 because of power" thing? I remember those days fairly clearly, and while the fanboys jumped on the power train, the majority were more concerned with X1 being both $100 more expenseive and weaker than the PS4. That was the problem, the value proposition, not simply power. Not to mention that was just one aspect.

If MS is doing something good for gaming, then yes, Sony should follow. and If Sony is doing something good for gaming, MS should follow. That's one of the great benefits competition brings to consumers, it's not just price.
That's why xbox gamers can enjoy games with gold or why playstation gamers can enjoy getting trophies.
dime a dozen sales man technique, he was just down playing the areas where he's weakest. If he had Sony's portfolio of games I guarantee he wouldn't be saying that. Likewise, if Sony was the one with BC and gamespass cominghe'd be downplaying that instead.

I think you're underestimating X1 there. I predict 70-90. I'm already hearing rumblings of MS hearing and reacting to getting beaten senseless as far as exclusives goes.
I seriously doubt it'll even get close to PS2. 110, 120million max I'd say. Consider that it's been on the market for 4 years now, And a reasonable guess for the PS5 is 2020. I don't think the 10 year lifespan is going to happen. Not to mention consoles sell less as time goes on.
Basically this all means they'd have to outperform their first 4 years in the next 3ish to the tune of 150%.

not the right time to bring stuff back for MS in my opinion. Right now they need new IPs then start bringing stuff back later. They're getting slaughtered when it comes to games and taking flack for being stuck in the past with gears/halo/forza and BC titles.
