Not at all. it pulls many of us out of the experience. More immersive for some, the opposite for others.
Getting to see the character once in a while doesn't quite make up for not playing in third person. Some of us just don't like that style of play. No one's hating on CDPR, we just don't like first person, so we're passing.
Everyone was expecting third person, so we were hyped, then we find out it's first person only. kind of a punch in the gut for those that don't like first person.
It's like an xbox only gamer who wants to play street ...
Where is the disrespect? All I see is a lot of "i'll pass" and "I was hoping for".
we don't hate cdpr. they're still my favorite developer by a mile. We hate first person, that's all. no one's calling for a boycott of CDPR, just saying we'll pass on this one.
well of course. It'd be silly to bet against sony today when it comes to games.
They won in my mind. Now basing it just on games, they're close to dead last as I don't really count multiplats at a showing for the big 3. (it's basically "hey checkout this game you can buy on your playstation, doesn't it make you want to buy an xbox to play it?")
But presentation and future planning is key. Now I have concerns with all of these, but: Having those multiplats did nothing to convince me to buy an xbox, but it did send the message that thi...
At first I was hoping for PSX to be more about indies, weird projects and hardware announcements. rather than a playstation only E3. but oh well.
YongYea did a couple videos on cyperpunk and he's shown to have at least one source in CDPR. (he even called the first person perspective back in January before anyone else) According to him, there was plans to switch between first and third but they've been scrapped. That screams to me that either money, time, resources, something became limited and they had to make a choice.
Honestly, I'd bet money on the deciding factor being that they just wanted to spread their wi...
Where are you getting that from biggerboss? No one is saying this needs to be more like witcher. they're saying they wanted it in third person. There was an expectation that the game was going to be in third person because CDPR is has only ever made third person games, but that doesn't mean people wanted witcher 2077.
@ biggerboss, nope. we just don't like first person. I didn't like first person before the witcher 1 came out. still don't like it after the witcher 3.
@suave not to me. Pulls me right out of the experience. I enjoy it less. I get that many feel immersion. But let me try and explain where I'm coming from. In first person, I don't feel like I'm playing a character, and at this point is where I assume you feel like you're not playing a character, you feel like you are the character hence immersion. But I don't get that either. What I get is the feeling that I'm playing a floating gun with someone making commenta...
I'm cool with them making the game however they want. I'll just be passing on this one. Not out of spite, I just don't like first person games. CDPR is still my favorite developer, doesn't mean everything they do I have to be 100% behind and never disagree. I hope the game does well. I'll just settle for other titles like death stranding and last of us.
Looks like that was the original idea but it got scrapped for first person only. YongYea covered it on youtube channel.
*looks at title* The complaint isn't that it's a first person shooter, it's that it's first person period.
@armu Who's saying they shouldn't be allowed to make it first person? From what I see, those of us that don't like first person are simply passing on it, not calling on them to cancel the game. I also don't like multiplayer games so I passed on the division even though it looked interesting. A play style I don't like being my only option affects my enjoyment of a game.
@warrior I don't find it immersive at all. the "floating gun" has never made ...
One was a shooter going to action adventure. this is from rpg to rpg.
multiplayer... ugh.
and first person? I'm suddenly a less excited for this game.
E3 in general? because I think E3's what caused the trend of PS4's dominance just before it's launch.
@enturax
I'm confused. Are you saying you should be able to use games to get history lessons from or that games can only be worth something and important if they're historically accurate?
I mean, what does being historically accurate have to do with being important? Something can be both, but something doesn't have to be historically accurate to be important or have value.
Heck, the first telephone was important. What was historically accurate about...
They would be changing it back to their original idea. It was originally meant to be switchable but they ended up going with just first person.
