At their cores: mobile gaming is mainly for killing time where as console/ PC gaming are us gamers investing our time. Those require two different approaches.
At most I think mobile gaming threatens handhelds.
I'm sorry but as a fan of games like Witcher, Dragon age, mass effect, and so on, you can't set me in front of a phone with flappy bird or even infinity blade and expect me to me satiated.
Mobile future of gaming? no. most likely streaming w...
I'm thinking a safer bet would be her being star from here on.
I hear you, but a simple solution would be a return to that product we all loved: the demo.
See I would gladly pay $100 for the witcher. But say a new IP that's just as good as witcher that I would enjoy just as much... sure $100 would give me pause, but slap me a demo on there and give me a couple hours to get a feel for the game and I can make my decision with a better informed perspective.
I partially agree with this. On the one hand, we don't pay enough for games. Not a popular stance I know, asking someone to pay more for something they like will never be treated as a popular opinion. But they cost more to make, we want bigger, better, prettier, top talent and no bugs or glitches, BUT, we'll only pay $60. Something's got to give. and that something is DLC, season passes, micro transactions etc. all things that we hate, but it's really all they have left ...
I remember one or two gaming journalists saying that only hardest of the hardcore own X1's over there.
Not popular enough would be my guess. Hell, I've had that game ever since I got my vita and I have yet to even boot it up.
Backlogs are a horrible thing.
Of that top ten, DA inquisition is the only one I'm into. thank goodness for my puny 500mb.
Glad to see Ellie and Ciri on there. a little disappointed at no Leliana, but more than adequate substitues in her stead.
Hmm, most interesting one to me would be everybody's gone to the rapture.
I definitely agree with outlast though.
never even gave yakuza a shot until I got part 4 on PS+, now it's one of my favorite franchises.
Now I've been hoping for localization for this, yakuza 5, zero and the new fatal frame.
2 for 4 so far.
I hear you. I own almost every assassins creed game but I've only played the first one and part of the second. I think the only ones I don't own are unity, rogue and the Chinese based one.
If this is true, it has everything to do with Syndicate just like both X1 and PS4 got ground zeroes just in time to get us hyped for MGS5.
I own all three also, and honestly, your comment still sounds like damage control.
I don't mind the indies, I've enjoyed quite a few of them, I think we all just want a better balance of AAA titles.
Just about everybody gave them a break post launch but we're just about 2 years in now. which is probably about 1/3 of the way through this generation, and still we're bombarded with indies.
I get the EA's and Ubisoft's might be reluctant to p...
tit for tat. remember back at gamescom? "Is it the beginning of the end for Sony? they weren't here and MS killed it!".
They get praised when only they show up and crapped on when they don't. Seems fair. stupid, but fair.
You've got one bubble and you waste it with fanboy crap?
*sigh*
Good choice, hope you enjoy it.
Same boat but from the future, except I game on PS more. But yeah, owning all three, I ended up with most play time (in order) PS4, Wii U, X1. Now I love all three, the only reason Wii U gets more play time than X1 is because most of the games I'd play on X1 are being played on PS4. And if I preferred X1, PS4 would be getting the least play time.
It's why I always suggest to people looking to own two consoles, choose between X1 and PS4, but definitely pick up the Wii U as...
very well said. It's not sports or politics, you're not locked into your console and can never experience the other side of the fence.
If it's within your budget, grab them all and have fun.
Glad the author took the time to point out it's an opinion piece and he's only talking about the games that interest him. That puts it into a better perspective.
Especially for a gamer like me where some of Xbox's biggest games, I just don't care about. Halo, forza, gears, I don't care for them at all. Now where xbox has me jumping for joy and barely able to wait to play are titles like recore, ashen, scalebound, quantum break and so on.
unfortunately, in my view it unfortunate anyway, it's becoming more and more important from what I see. It's more and more frequent when I come across comment sections and people in there say they're going to pass on game X because it doesn't have multiplayer.
It's becoming a box that needs checked before purchase for some. and that's unfortunate. I'm a single player type of guy and I'd much rather see a remake of an alpha protocol or another witcher...
