I think we are on different sides of the console fence....but i agree with EVERYTHING you just said!!! :)

I doubt they are kicking themselves as their feet couldn't reach through the Microsoft-fattened wallets in their back pockets.

Nobody knows for sure how much Microsoft paid for Titanfall exclusivity. Whatever the final number was, you can pretty much guarantee that any lost revenue from PS4 sales was factored in.

Suppose we'll have to find out ~2017 when TitanFall will launch.

I'm sure Microsoft will try to keep it exclusive. They'd be crazy not to and they will probably overpay for the right to do so.

Also, until it is CONFIRMED for a PS4 launch, i wouldn't go countin' those chickens before they've hatched.

You forgot:

Resistance 1
Resistance 2
Resistance 3

Little Big Planet 1
Little Big Planet 2
Little Big Planet 3 (rumored development)

Infamous
Infamous 2
Infamous Second Son

The Sly Cooper series
The Jak & Daxter series

....so yeah, like Microsoft, Sony doesn't seem too reliant on franchises.

Give it time.....just give it time.

Agreed....at least wait until it comes out before declaring it the best of all time.

Wasn't the launch of Drive Club delayed specifically so Sony could work on it to show off the VR headset at GDC?

It may not be playable but will be used as to demo VR in a very controlled environment.

Tretton I could understand leaving Sony. His value will never, ever be higher than it is now. I'm sure he was making bank with Sony....but he could basically all for whatever he wants now.

This move at xbox is interesting because, without trolling, we could say the xbox launch could've gone better. Then again with a new CEO A maybe he didn't want to deal with the new BS.

Either way, I'm sure we'll never know, but I'd be interested...

Totally agree.

I some ways I'd agree with the stupidity of caring about these numbers.

However, if this new 'next gen' has taught us anything, we can change the industry. Look at Microsoft's reversal on their policies. Us gamers, while both fickle and demanding, drive innovation because we demand it....or we simply won't buy it.

I think the prospects of this are very exciting.
There are just a ton of questions surrounding it (many of which i doubt will be answered at GDC):

If it's in the $300 range, how many of these do they have to sell for it to be profitable? Will enough people buy it?

Will this turn into a Kinect type-mandate where Sony mandates every game have VR potential, etc? Like Kinect they'll have to re-coop their R&D dollars.

@The_Infected

...and yet here you are rage-commenting on a Titanfall article.

Keep on trollin'.

I think Titanfall is COD w/Mechs....but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad game.

4353d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

That's why some games are called system-sellers.

@Death

Well said....I was thinking the same thing. The fact that there is a serious competitor in the market has damaged Sony's stranglehold on the market.

Sure they may be winning this gen now, but it ain't like it used to be (back in the PS1 and PS2 days).

Phil Spencer had already alluded to a Horizon sequel (so good news for you). Though I'd be surprised if that is shown AT GDC.

All of this stems from a 28 second, year old, generic spy clip. There was no game play, it was all pre-rendered.

That being said, it's a significantly less risk to reboot a franchise that sold over 20M copies than to further invest in a new IP.

That being said, I can't wait for a new gears. Sounds like they got a great team and with Rod Ferguson leading the charge, this could be Epic (pun intended).

Because an established IP that had sold over 20M copies is less of a risk than a brand new IP.

Lacking now and for the foreseeable future.
Microsoft has a nice slate.

Look - Does anyone really think that EA/Respawn would have taken less money than they could have made if the game launched on PS4 as well?

The money Microsoft has invested in the game (which I am sure was a ton) will be used to offset any potential losses for EA by keeping it exclusive to one console. Essentially Microsoft bought whatever copies would have sold on Sony.

If the game was a runaway hit on PS4 they may have lost some but i am sure that the pr...
