What were the reasons given for the low scores? Were they consistent with other games of the same genre? Or did they nit-pick reasons that were given a pass on other games in the genre?
I think that shows a little inexperience from BEND as a developer. Look at UC to UC2 - studios need to learn and grow from experiences developing games outside their comfort zone. A little rough yes - but a 5 or 6.5, I think not.
If it wasn't a good game the scores would be justified, but it is a good solid game. There's a tonne of cheese in the dialogue, but it ticks all the boxes of what a games should be. It's the flakey, unjustified reasons behind the low scores that is the problem.
Other way more average games get away with far more.
Sony games are held to different standards, it's common knowledge - no conspiracy theory. Tall poppy syndrome is what it is. Something overlooked or not even mentioned in other, if found in Sony title is highlighted, dissected and ultimately effects the review score.
If that annoys you and 'many' - fast travel, problem solved.

The media tried and failed - it won't do GOW, HZD or Spider-Man numbers. But I would say enough to make Sony and BEND very happy.

It is a stunning looking game, HDR implementation is top shelf - so is the sound. The Hordes are next level intimidating - they'll tear you shreds if you're not prepared.
All the games you guys are mentioning are pretty much the best examples in each their respective genres. The media going after them would have been too obvious.

I had the LMG with 500+ rounds and the MWS with about 400+ - didn't even make a dent haha. I was trying to break them up into smaller packs, just ran out of ammo.
I ended up with about 270 ears, and the Horde was still massive - hightailed it out of there haha
MK 11 had it's own reveal event, it's a massive fighting franchise. For a new ip to beat it, that's an achievement worth celebrating.

I encounted a swarm of over 300 yesterday fairly relentless and frightening. They just kept coming - ran out of ammo and explosives.
You must only be at 15hrs in, keep going - the E3 demo is completely represented and more.
An average game (I think it's a better than average) that shames any of their first party output this gen - that's saying something.
They'll find out next gen when all these studios they've brought deliver average games, there might be the odd GOTY contender.

And those 2 consoles didn't have mobile gaming exploding around them, PS4 won't outsell PS2 but its another fantastic console by Sony. I reckon they'll do between 110 - 120 lifetime sales.

Kick it up and you'll see how good the game is, it's not perfect, can be a little cringey - but by no means should to be constantly nit picked and crucified. Seems that only happens to Sony titles, you can't hit everything out of the park.
But you lot have indulged in mediocrity all gen, DG would be the second coming on xbox - such has been the dismal release of quality new ips this gen.
