it's like calling crackdown 2 a shooter. Nah, it's an open-world superhero game that just happens to feature guns.
Yeah you can aim down an iron sight, but that alone doesn't make a FPS a sim. You still have a lot of health, a bunch of unrealistic weapons, and a slew of arcade like elements. Heck, MW is an arcade shooter by every means, and I find it a lot easier to play then halo 3, all you need to do is spam or camp. The difference between an arcade shooter like killzone to that halo is more twitch based, like unreal, quake, team fortress and even CS to a degree.
You want realism i...
If you look at halo reach it's pretty clear what bungie is planning with their next game, and why they went with activision as a publisher.
You've got armor abilities, large open maps, easy world editing tools, high number of AI, a large variety of weapons, vehicles etc. Bungie is clearly working on something that's going to be a very "large scale" game, and with bungie's history, it'll probably be very multiplayer focused. I mean why put so much...
seems like halo reach does everything. Large worlds, ton of ai and action on screen at once, map and game editor, huge amounts of customization.
It looks epic.
1. the protagonist isn't silent, in fact they hired a female and male voice actor so that you can fully customize the experience.
2.gameplay has changed, you can't really improve the fomula bungie created.
3.It'd be hard to live on planets that didn't undergo similar terra forming to earth.
4.what? what about forge 2.0?
5. Sometimes the journey is the ride, not the ending.
I personally think that odst was a great looking game, loved that the buildings all looked like they had interiors.
Heck every halo game as been good looking, though they might not look like crysis or metro 2033 there's a huge amount of polish and completeness to the visuals. It's like blizzard's games, they not the most technically impressive, but in the end everything is really polished and looks great.
not a bad thing because S/S actually looks really good.
I agree to a point but I think XBLA/PSN and indie games are doing a good job of providing console gaming with just as many wierd games.
Braid, flower, flow and Limbo for example have done great on consoles. As well as games like dishwasher : dead samurai, which became very popular over the 360's indie games. There are a ton of examples to counter the one for zeno clash.
I'm sure it'll be one of the best racing games ever made. In fact this year we're getting some of the greatest games in each genre. People should learn to ignore the flamebait articles, N4G would be a much better place.
Racing - GT
RTS - SC2
Platforming - MG2
FPS - Halo reach.
RPG - ME2
it really is a good time to be a gamer.

It's amazing how the first things you talk about is forza 3...
Why not just keep forza comments for forza articles and GT comments in GT articles.
But I don't understand the pedestal that SC2 is being put on. The game is not any more competitive as any other rts game out there. I've had just as many close and challenging matches in games like halo wars as I've had in sc2, and the use of hero classes actually provide an X factor that i feel starcraft lacks.
Same goes for my experiences with bad company and dawn of war.
Starcraft is a great game, but it does next to nothing on it's multipl...
do you see how much they spam a single key to get a single building down in time. Did you know they play starcraft nearly 8-16 hours a day? How is that remotely applicable to people who don't play that much? Not to mention their 300apm is closer to 50 if they didn't spam hotkeys to build.
Yes their micro is impressive, but starcraft 2 isn't the same micro heavy game as starcraft 1. You'll rarely see decent muta micro compared to what you see in sc1. The best ...
that will change soon enough as blizzard starts pumping out patch after patch which will constantly upset the current unit balance. Just like they do with wow.
You'll start getting your flavor of the week builds, like the beta's nearly unstoppable marine marauders. Then they'll patch that and a new unit composition will reign.
While i agree that unit composition and dealing with the information you gather from a scout is the second most important ...
sorry, but with the 20+hrs logged, it's a game of build orders. The little strategy there is in the game is unit composition, which will soon be replaced with unit/build of the patch, just like how wow has has become build of the patch.
the killzone site doesn't have selection of canada as a country...
wouldn't that same argument apply to gran turismo not selling consoles because everyone who wants gt5 already picked up a ps3 for gt5P/gtHD?
sorta sinking your own ship with that argument there.
I've always thought of metroid being about loneliness, about samus, her plight and the world she was on. Why do they keep adding additional characters that completely remove all of these sensations. I want more games like the first metroid prime, where it's just you and some back-tracking, and some kick ass bosses.
kirby is my saving grace for the wii right now.
to me it looks like they threw every frame into the smudge tool in photoshop and called it a new art style.
They managed to make it look more visually boring and less technically impressive then TP.
I'm still waiting on this

but once you begin to break down popular maps in fps games it really doesn't matter.
TF2 for example had a single aesthetic for a very long time, and in cs, dust maps are still played to an extreme amount yet people haven't stopped playing them just because of the aesthetic. good maps and good levels will become popular because of the gameplay they provide.
Same goes with halo, people would rather veto a map and play the same 3 or 4 over again because...
I think GTA should increase the realism. What they should do though is bring back a lot of the more fun stuff, and give side mission which cater to the unrealistic features of older games. Like selling coke out of the icecream van, if anything realism will only push the comedic value of the action.
I also hope they add more of a cinematic flare to some of the smaller things.
