I have to agree. The sales of a sequel are only going to reflect what people thought of the original. If you hated FF13, you're not going to buy FF13-2. If you just liked it a little, you're waiting for the price to hit $20 or lower. If you just loved it, you already have it preorder or are getting it as soon as you can. There's some sweet spot for a minority of people where a slew of amazing reviews might compel them to get it but most have already made up their minds.

Having too many cutscenes is only a flaw if both of the following are true.
A. The story sucks really bad.
B. The cutscenes can not be skipped
If these are true you can complain that there are too many and the story sucks. Without the second one, you can only say the story sucks.

@Megaman_nerd In defense of X-2 the gameplay was fine. It was just the story was that awful. Sure it was dressup with no summons beyond the three transformations but the gameplay and level systems were well designed. Most people mention FF12 too but I would disagree with that as well. You also forgot to mention FF11. FF11 was pretty bad from what I played but I've never been a MMO guy. The same can be said about FF14. I'm neutral when it comes to FF13 though. It was alright if you qui...

Microsoft are in a comfortable position right now. Unfortunately, for 360 owners Microsoft know they can fall back on multiplatform games and good marketing with cheaper to make Kinect IPs to draw in plenty of profit. They know they don't have to invest in any new or interesting IPs until next generation. They're maximizing profits with low risk investments because they have already established a broad user base. Its very smart business and because they have a huge install base its no...

@Sevir Uncharted 3 had plenty of plot holes. How do you explain how Talbot magically disappeared after he drugged Cutter or why the same spiders were all over the world. Unfortunately there is more than one plot hole. It is not that these things couldn't be explained but that they weren't. Maybe the spiders were stowing away on a ship with Sir Francis Drake. The point is that there is a little too much left to your imagination. The whole Talbot disappearing act definitely needed to ex...

@JBaby343 I just found that there were a few steps back taking in Uncharted 3. Take the Brute fights instance. Why can a guy with no armor take so many Mag5 shots and not die when everyone else is pretty killed in one. Why does the game pretty force you into melee combat during these fights? In the Chateau there's a brute that attacks you while you're still getting fired by two enemies who on Crushing could almost always kill you before you can take the brute down with hand to hand a...

I don't understand this. FF13 was not tough to complete. To do all the Cieth Stone missions maybe because they require high level characters and upgraded weapons but the story was easy as hell to get through. Set the right paradigms, swap when you need to. and use autobattle for swiftness. You can delay your attacks if you have to keep the gauge up but there's not much else to it.

It was fine year for every gamer. If you only have a PS3 you had a plethora of great exclusives, a few disappointing but still solid ones, some cool PSN titles, and an awesome multiplatform lineup.

If you only have a 360 you still have that awesome multiplatform lineup along with Gears 3, Forza 4, if that's your thing, and a few notable outstanding XBLA games.

If you only have a Wii, you got the masterpiece that is Skyward Sword and a few other decent t...

I don't mind getting an ultimate weapon or two but getting all would be insane to repeat and I'm a guy who had every hp, ability, mp, etc. on the sphere grid. I remember Yuna's and Rikku's were extremely easy but everyone else's had some annoying task that either took time or was very difficult.

I wouldn't be worried in the slightest if I was Sony. Once some good JRPGs come out, Vita will sell substantially more. We still got Disgaea 3, FFX remake, and several original titles along with some sequels to popular coming. The US/EU region launches will see a huge surge in sales as well.

Context: 160 hours, Level 74, 19 mb save, have the platinum.

Only recently has it become "unplayable". "Unplayable" is exaggeration but it freezes often enough to seriously piss me off. I completed the final fort capture in the Stormcloaks" six times in a row because it continued to freeze and the game wasn't autosaving when I was fast traveling to Solitude immediately after the mission to do the final mission. The freezing has gone from maybe eve...

The further I get the more often it freezes but I'm playing patchless. Hope they get the second one out soon so when I go to my friends I can get that one as well.

No offense but at most we are going to have $70 and that's just because they can. Game development will not increase in cost by all that much. Compare the PS3 to the PS2 or the 360 to the original Xbox. The PS3 is over 100 times more powerful than the PS2. The 360 is over 70 times more powerful than the original Xbox. Even the fastest most expensive computers you can make right now do not provide nearly that large of a gap. Even if Sony made another $600 console that they lost $200 a cons...

I am more than satisfied with the score. I just disagree with most of EDGE's reviews/review scores. 8 times out of 10 EDGE is harsh and criticize games too heavily. For instance, in just scores, RAGE just got a 7 instead of an 8 or 9, Forza 4 got an 8 in contrast to a 9 or 10, and All 4 One got a 6 in place of a 7 or 8. Personally, All 4 One is a 7, Forza 4 is a 9, and RAGE is 9. EDGE does seem biased a lot of the time but EDGE reviewers can have some highly disagreeable opinions sometime...

@floetry101 I mostly agree with you but quit with the hate on Greg and/or IGN.
First, Greg didn't review Resistance 3. Stephen did. Bringing him up doesn't help your point in the slightest.
Second, you imply that Greg's writing skills are subpar when he not only has a degree in journalism but articulate his points better than you do. For instance, while you criticize his writing skills for not being concise or distinct enough, your writing contains neither ch...

Have you played DMC2? I seriously doubt the new DMC will be worse than it. The other two however will probably continue to be far better.

5266d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

Why waste time Hd porting DMC2? Everyone who has played knows it's horrible within the first hour of playing. This is coming from someone who finished it. I play the games I make the mistake of buying no matter how horrible they are. It's far too easy, the game is paced too slowly, and the story is told in a very underwhelming boring way. Furthermore, it is unnecessary because the story isn't directly linked to any DMC game so far. What I mean is there is no continuity. The story ...

Listen to Game Scoop 215 or just read the review. 25 hours to beat the game if you don't do all the sidequests. On Game Scoop 215 within the first 10 minutes he said he had beaten the game with the girl who is good with knives and started with some black guy if I remember right.

They just had a Game Scoop panel about this. Download Game Scoop 214. It addresses issues such as IGN haters and explains their reviewing system. It also goes into the misconceptions that you yourself just typed. He gave some details, told people how fun it was fun, and told you the only problems he saw where presentation and story that didn't keep his interest. He gave a concise opinion which is what the IGN reviewing system has been for months. If you don't like that short, scarcely...
