I'll add a possible third reason: its been a pretty hectic period for games and people's budgets are tighter than ever.

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Battlefield have both seen less sales than their previous outing.

Between the two things you mentioned and this one I think that pretty much accounts for it.

Aye, it's getting relatively little attention. That's the downside of launching in such a busy period: everyone is covering the Call of Dutys, Battlefields and Assassin's Creeds of the world.

Slightly off topic, but I discovered that you can kill people in Batman: Arkham Origins!

Out in the city you can string up bad guys on gargoyles, and then use a batarang to cut the rope, dropping the thug 100ft+.

How do I know this? Because I have far too much time on my hands.

You didn't actually read the article in question, did you?

It is designed to attract clicks, though. Still.

The author specifically says that those paying £80 more for their console have every right to be concerned, especially about what Ghosts running at 720p may mean for the long-term future of the console.

Don't leap to a conclusion, read the article in question, even if it is pretty much saying what most of us were thinking: ...

Both sides of this are daft.

Activision's PR are daft for failing to realise this would happen, and at the same time the people in the line are bloody daft for resorting to violence.

Tis a sad world we live in :P

In today's news Valve, the legendary company famous for not making Half-Life 3, have announced an exciting new piece of hardware: computers!

Shit, I meant Steam Machines! Completely different thing. No, really. Seriously. Stop giggling.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

At the moment I'm struggling to see a reason to actually by a Steam Machine. The only possibility I can forsee is if a Steam Machine w...

Indeed. A bloody brilliant platformer from start to finish. I've not had this much fun in ages :D

Indeed, it is just business, but that phrase does not and never should render a company exempt from criticism.

I did note he breaks the street date, so I'm surprised a lot of places are still dealing with him. Personally I'm not judging either way, but companies usually refuse to deal with a shop that puts their games on the shelf early.

Having said that Rockstar don't seem to care about that as they've stated if he turns the shop into adverti...

So, whose being playing as what? I began playing Panther, but have sort of started leaning towards Ghost now, with the occasional brutal return to violence :P

I wish I had a budget of over a touch over $1,600.

Budget.

Ha. Good one.

Do keep in mind that both of the first games are free, though, so if you're buying the package more for the first three games then you'd be better of just buying Morrowind and the first two games off of Bethesda's site.

On the other hand if you've never played any of the series before then it's a solid package.

Both of the first two games are absolutely free to download from Bethesda's website. You just need to grab a DOS emulator to run them, and those are easy to get.

So in reality you're really paying for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

You can pick up the Morrowind Collection ( every expansion included) for about £10-15.

So, if you're really wanting to play the first three games I'd recommend downloading the first two and b...

Red Dead Rollickin' Reptiles.

You know you want it :D

The point raised, though, is that you're pre-ordering something when you have no idea of whether it's even going to be playable or good, like what happened to people that pre-order Aliens or Duke Nukem Forever.

Depends on where you order from, I guess. On Steam obviously on launch day that's it, and they don't offer refunds in most cases. Some stores also don't let you cancel a few days before launch etc.

Agreed. I had no problem with the brutal violence because it contrasted everything else very nicely, but there was just too much of it!

TotalBiscuit (The CynicalBrit) did an enjoyable video on the subject of pre-orders, for anyone who wants to delve a little more into it.

That's very true, but the thing is most games now have review embargoes that don't lift until release date, and by then it's too late to cancel your order.

Indeed. I'm fairly sure I remember the vast majority of the gaming community calling this one. It wasn't exactly hard to see coming :D

Agreed. This allows Destiny to have a wider market, allowing those intrigued by the game but not of a more social attitude to experience it.

As for me, I'm a bit of a mix. I'll be picking up Destiny for the multiplayer design, but at the same time I'll make full use of the fact that I can just play on my own at times, when I don't really feel like messing about with other people.

Another thing I liked is that they stated before they're try...
