Now that they've said it's coming, they better get on it. Because they're hurting sales. Now that people know the price is coming down, they're not gonna buy it at $400...
Ever hear of a run-on sentence? Take a breath.
I don't think he's saying EA would build it alone, but can you imagine if they decided to jointly build new hardware with a partner? Like MSFT? Both US-based companies, both targeted at the more hardcore/Western market. Let's face it, if they split the costs of the hardware between them, and had all of MSFT's and EA's software EXCLUSIVE to their system... then that would be a coup of epic proportions.
Remember that price cut? According to some sources, your last chance to get the 60gb version will be July 31 in the US.
So, as of Aug 1, the price of the PS3 is... $599.
... but ROTFL. Fa la la la la, indeed!
Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Ace Combat 6, PGR4, Eternal Sonata, GTA IV with its extra content, Halo Wars, Alan Wake, Too Human, Fable 2, Culdcept Saga.
Not to mention the very real likelihood of a Crackdown 2 and a Gears of War 2.
Let's face it, with 3 competitors in the field now, the 10 year plan is not viable.
Nintendo will have to ship a souped-up Wii in the next 2 years. Heck, Americans all have to go to a digital TV by 2009... how are the games gonna look on those sets?
Microsoft has never stated they have a 10 year plan. Never been in their outlook. They're perfectly happy coming out with hardware, reasonably priced, every 5 or 6 years. They decided not to tack on Blu-Ray in this ge...
With all the holiday games, you can definitely find something else to put your money down on.
And also, when are the publishers going to wise up and ship some of these AAA games in the summer?
I agree about the excitement for this game. Definitely poised as an open world Prince of Persia like experience. Now I'm worried that they've messed around with the combat from PoP to the point that AC will be lacking. The 5 guys surrounding Altair and attacking one at a time was extremely lame.
Definitely agree that these days, without a demo, it's very difficult to plunk down $60, regardless of reviews. I'd rather get to try it out myself first.
The guy floating was funny but easily fixable. Don't expect that kind of crap in the finished product.
What is more concerning is the combat. Five guys surround Altair and attack one at a time? WTF? No one stabs him in the back? Is this 1995 game design?
Frankly, given the shape of the game (i.e., it's in test/debug phase), they need to put all their attention into getting the game ready for the November release. If they divert attention to develop a demo, they will either ship something just as shoddy as was shown or they'll miss the holiday buying bonanza.
1. Sony won, but they had to. KZ2 and NCSoft announcement, coupled with Haze/UT3 timed exclusives and some seriously good looking first-party games (like Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Lair, Heavenly Sword). Home is looking good, though I still can't get over the fact that I'd rather be playing a game than decorating.
2. Microsoft. Yes, their press conference was lame. However, what sells systems? Games or press conferences? We all know games sell systems, and MSFT showcased o...
MSFT is definitely getting the short end of the stick, and frankly it's because they focused on stuff everyone already knew. Yes, they have one of the best holiday lineups EVER. But we KNEW that already. The fact is, that wasn't as exciting as MSFT wanted it to be. We wanted to know what we'd be playing AFTER Halo 3 and Mass Effect. And they gave us pretty el-zilcho.
Sony, now, the KZ2 trailer and the NCSoft announcement were huge. But again, Sony is full of promises... while t...
Oh, lordie. Can't wait to see the Boardz after this one. More Petz? They led with more Petz? Ouch.
Haze still sounds awesome.
Assassin's Creed has some work to do to make up for their faux pas at the MSFT conference.
... I don't have to like it. I'm concerned that Nintendo's innovation is going to "kill" the sit-down gamers. As more development funding gets channeled into putting out crap for people to wave at, there will be less funding for the Halos and whatnot.
The question is whether Nintendo is doing to hardcore console games what console games have done to PC games (i.e. pushed them into a niche market).
Someone enlighten me, too, please. My kids want this thing and I'm like, "why not go outside and play with a stick? It's got better graphics and you're hopping around just like you would be in here."
As much as I've been critical of what Sony has done to date, I have to admit that the Killzone 2 demo and the NCSoft announcement were a great one-two combo.
I'm still waiting til the console hits $399 before I buy one, though, no matter what games they put on there.
And frankly, everyone thinks the MSFT conference was lame because they didn't announce anything shocking, but did you see their freakin' holiday lineup? C'mon, folks... there's enough gaming on the 3...
The original Xbox had some kind of fitness game -- My Fitness? -- that actually got good reviews from the couple of places that deigned to review it.
Now Nintendo slaps a peripheral with the same crap and people go all goo-gah over it. Mind-boggling.
GET OUT AND WALK, FOR CHRISSAKES... or ride a bike, or jog... this slab on the floor in front of your TV is gonna get you in shape? Puleaze... get the hell outta my way so I can play Halo 3.
So when they cut the price of the 80gb to $499, they'll also introduce a 120gb model for $599. Then they'll discontinue the 80gb model within the month.
Meaning that Sony's price drop is a short-term thing. If you want the top of the line PS3, you'll pay $600 for it... for a little while longer, obviously.
Don't forget, the games are coming. They're not here yet. :-)
