Well, thank God the PS3 has Star Ocean 4!! Should I run out to the store right now and slap $500 on a new PS3? Hell, for Star Ocean 4!!!
Yes, the above was sarcasm.
... then you're going to see more FF games on other platforms. If FFXIII goes multi-platform, PS3 loses a huge feather in its cap.
Squeenix wants to make money. Right now they don't stand to make as much putting a product solely on the PS3.
Don't we all just ignore the Wii? I mean, really. Does it count? There's millions of people playing Bejeweled every day but we don't count the sales of that product up against the Halos and MGSs and whatnot. The Wii is in the same bucket as that casual crap you can download online for $5.
It shouldn't even be in this story. Hell, Nintendo admitted it before they even produced it. "We're not competing with MSFT and Sony for hi-def next gen graphics."

The graphical necessities are spot on, and will be needed sooner rather than later.
10. Fable 2 - not gonna ship in 2008.
9. Too Human - way too much controversy about this one. I suspect it will be mediocre.
8. Banjo Kazooie 3 - trailer looks cute, but has anyone played it yet?
7. Peter Jackson's Halo - uh, yeah, ok. No one really knows what this is and no one really knows when it'll happen.
6. Splinter Cell: Conviction - didn't most of us tire of this series once we polished off Chaos Theory?
5. Marvel Universe Online - ok, maybe this one...
I thought the demo for Eternal Sonata was pretty good. I liked the battle system and the strategy around the light/dark mechanic. I certainly thought it was stronger than Blue Dragon.
I suspect ES will fall in the 75% range for most reviewers. Decent gameplay but lackluster story.
I, for one, plan to add it to my Christmas list (in other words, I'll be happy to play through it provided someone else buys it for me). :-)
I think the ecstacy over Bioshock has completely overwhelmed the fact that Blue Dragon fell flat as a pancake. I was going to get BD but decided after the demo to pass on it.
I think the point here is that PS3 needs these titles to succeed much more than the 360 needs them at this point. 360 still has some titles that are considered AAA (Oblivion, GRAW, Bioshock, GoW, etc), but PS3 is still looking for that game that will sell systems... and these games (HS, Lair, Warhawk) wer...
This isn't MSFT's fault. They're not out there reviewing Lair and HS. I could see if one games site said something negative about Lair, but come on... this is very widespread. Now on HS, I'm seeing average rankings (from GameRankings.com) in the 83% range, so while there might be things in the game that are "off" it doesn't appear to hamper the overall experience.
I'd say Sony has at least two games (HS and Warhawk) that will help PS3 owners while away the hours unti...
Great article.
BioShock is a fantastic game, and it's going to sell well. The problem is, it's going to sell well to hardcore gamers who have a 360 or PC, and those hardcore gamers who want BioShock already have a 360.
This is not a mainstream game. It's rated M, first of all, so all the teenagers who want to play it have to wait until mom lets them. That seriously cuts into the potential audience.
BioShock is going to sell well, among EXISTING 360 owners... and some folks wh...
Someone (1up maybe?) recently had a preview of the Stranglehold MP and called it a mess.
So here's another potential AAA title that goes PS3 exclusive. Anyone beginning to see a trend here? Anyone want to wager that once Sony drops the price again in '08 they'll see a surge of sales?
... MSFT could afford to blow $18b.
You mean the PS3 is now $400? No? Guess not then.
I'll be playing Warhawk once Sony reduces the price on their console to an affordable (for me) level. Another $100 and they will grab some market share. Until then, I'll play Halo 3... and wait for Sony to come to their senses on price.
Provided HD DVD can hold onto 20-30% of the market share, we'll be mired in this war for a little while. And as dual-format players come down in price, the real question will be, "who cares?"
We're still in the early stages of this war. All the players have their pros and cons, but frankly I think Sony has to like where they are. Not love it, mind you, but at least like it.
Let's review.
1. The Wii. Yes, the Wii is selling faster than they can make them. HOWEVER, in 2009 all the TVs in the US have to accept a digital signal, and the Wii is not an HD device. So are the Wii games going to look like ass on your shiny new widescreen HDTV? Nintendo souped ...
After playing the demo for each of these, it was apparent that ES at least was making an attempt to design a battle system that you doing more than just summoning a monster or pressing a button and watching the pretty graphics. BD is one to put you to sleep with all the FMV shenanigans. I thought ES was more immersive.
Do any of you not recognize satire?
Add a game to the list that's worth buying when I get a PS3 (when it hits $400).
I played through a couple hours of the last one on PS2. I didn't find it compelling enough to complete. In other words, not everyone is so gripped by SO that they find its exclusivity a selling point for the system.
Now once PS3 has enough of these, then you've got an argument. But just Star Ocean? Don't think that's gonna cut it.
