Why is there so much bashing going on? I mean, in the last gen, I had a GC, an Xbox and a PS2.
I have a 360 so far, my kids want a Wii for Xmas (though I'm still baffled by its popularity, I suppose I might play something on it) and I'll wind up getting a PS3 once it hits a reasonable price and they have some stellar exclusives available.
Are the majority of people on this site really committed to only one console?
So Adam what's-his-name doesn't like Halo. And this affects me why? This is just Jaffe being Jaffe, putting his big mouth out there to start a flame war. Whatever. Gripe and cry all you want about it being hype that is bought, but Sony only wishes they had something that could compete.
Hell, we all wish Sony had something that could compete. If I could play Halo 3 and then jump over to my PS3 to play something just as electrifying, then I'd be in bliss. But sadly, Calling All ...
I think the Wii is Nintendo's console that competes with the original Xbox and the PS2. As such, it still trails behind those two.
The big N needs to produce a hi-def console before it can be compared with PS3 and X360.
I'm looking forward to Castlevania on the PSP in October. Other than that, my kids both want one for Christmas because of Renegade Squadron. Not sure this is helping PSP turn the corner on its trickle of gaming goodness, but at least I'll be able to dust mine off.
1. Do your research first.
2. If you're still unsure, RENT IT. Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, etc. rent games these days.
3. If you buy it and it still sucks (or you've finished a real gem and want some money for it), use eBay. NEVER trade in your games at GameStop. They give you squat for it. You can get a decent price on eBay for your games.
I hate explaining jokes.
Eggebrecht is the ninkompoop who said Lair couldn't be appreciated by hardcore gamers... its controls were intended for the "mainstream" audience.
Now of course my post isn't as funny.... :-(
So let me get this straight. We're still waiting for some AAA PS3 games, though HS and Warhawk are right up there. And because MSFT has Halo 3, we're gonna ... hug... our PS3s? Because there isn't anything to play on them?
I tried to read the interview, but apparently I'm too much of a gamer to be able to read it. All I saw was jumbled letters thrown together on a page with very pretty ads.
Maybe I'll print it off and see if one of my non-playing friends can read it to me...
Hilarious! And true!!!
Well, Disney didn't go HD-DVD, but you CAN download Disney's movies in HD on Xbox Live Marketplace.
As others have posted, until Lord of the Rings and Star Wars (the original) get the hi-def treatment, we won't know for sure who will win. These are both mega-ton franchises that will sell gobs of copies in hi-def, and will -- supposedly -- push those currently on the fence into one camp or the other.
Just because you're 22 doesn't mean you have to grow up. The fact that many of us are still playing and enjoying video games is proof positive of that.
Do what you love doing. And don't let others tell you what you can or cannot love doing. If you like Anime, then keep liking it.
Peer pressure exists only if you let it pressure you. Tell em all to piss off.
At least in the demo, every time I summoned my shadow dragon, it was like a full minute FMV scene of this shadow unfurling and reeling off its attack. And I was like, "okay, that's pretty the first three times, but now I'm bored watching the same attack sequence every time I haul off an attack."
Not that I've played Blue Dragon (other than the demo), but I would trade out Two Worlds (broken) and Enchanted Arms (that game bit hard) and plug in BD or Eternal Sonata.
... if I were to force myself through 60 hours of boring gameplay.
The majority of people who bought a console in the last generation do not read N4G.
But, a lot of people go into bookstores, shop on Amazon, etc. If they see a title called "Why the PS3 Failed?" and their son says "I want a PS3, mommy"... mommy is likely to say "no way, that thing failed."
This type of press is going to work its way into the mainstream, and it's going to damage the PS3's credibility.
I wondered how long I'd hear the PS3 motto in this thread. "Just Wait."
... HD DVD just picked up Shrek and Transformers, also parent/kid movies.
Let's face it: the battle will be waged for quite some time. If you don't buy a dual format player, then you may choose to augment your 360 with an HD DVD add-on and buy a PS3.
Lots of great gaming, and lots of great movie-watching.
Why choose one when you can have both?
... but I'm still not buying one until it hits $399 and has a stable (and I mean 5-7) of AAA games that I can't play anywhere else. I suspect that by next summer the confluence of events will finally be there so that I can enjoy a PS3.
For now, I'm going to play my 360.
Let's see... the Wii on my HDTV looks like a pile of elephant turd... and by 2009 everyone needs an HDTV to accept digital (not analog) signals. The Big N needs a new console before anyone else.
The 360 is fine, but MSFT has to keep showering it with exclusive love in the next 3-4 years to ensure its lifecycle goes beyond its predecessor.
Given that we know Halo 3 will be huge, and that major exclusives like Fable 2, Halo Wars and inevitably Gears of War 2 (not t...
